the kit was intended to mount the four servo up front and one servo in the boom for rudder. it only includes 12 2.6x14 self tapping screws for the three servo in the servo bays, but i mount my rudder servo up front and so i'm short of four 2.6x14 self tapping screws. these screws are identified in the step 5-1 to 5-2 of the raptor 90se manual. i could not find the part number for these screws anywhere on the manual.
i tried the screws that came with the jr ds8717 servo but it was a bit loose.
anyway to obtain these screws or similar.

thanks

Tam

Why did they do this, why did they include a part in the kit and doesn't offer it as spare.

If they have never had a screw in them, I just used the 2.5mm. It held fine.

I have also put several strands of wire in with the screw on a plank when the threads went south. I am not sure I would do the same with a heli, though.

what a pain to find those screws - they do seem to be a special size and hard to find. I think they are part of this hardware set:

otherwise you may try taking one with you to the local ACE hardware (or equivalent) and see if they have them in the misc. hardware section.

I've had multiple orders, no problems. Be prepared for a hefty shipping charge.

I looked up what is included in the pv0088 screw bag. My manual states in includes six, 2.6X12 self tappers. So that is another option that should be readily availible at most shops.

2.6x12 will not do. because it's doesn't reach long enough to have good bite grip. 2.6x14 is just barely enough. i saw the hirobo screws when i search for the 2.6 self tapping through heliproz, and i though they might have the JIS cross heads. i've heard they strip easily if you don't use the correct driver.

anyway, i've ordered the screws through helicraft. they quoted $13 shipping for less then $2 worth of screws. yikes!!!
but i did ordered a few more items to make it worthwhile the shipping fees.
their prices are cheap though, i guess this sort of compensate for the high shipping fees.

Why not drill out and use long M2.5s with a nyloc the other end.

Take a sheet metal screw of that size and put the emery disk on your dremmel tool, use the small disk and start at the tip cut a small grove going up the screw about 1/8 ". This will work as a home made self tapper!! Look at a large self tapper and u will c what to do.

thanks for the ideas, but i just got the screws from helicraft.com. today. what a quick shipping. i though it would take at least 2 weeks to get here.
i don't understand why online retailers in the US don't want to stock these screws.
