well put Ghost Rider.

i have been wanting to post something like this for a while.

i want an aurora...infact...when i sold my Vigor a year ago, the Aurora was what i wanted to replace it with, but when i realized it may be a while, i just went and got something else. no big deal. not saying i'll never get one, but it takes time to build up the money for a 90 machine.

do any of you bashers have any...ANY idea of what is involved with producing a product from beginning to end?

i have been at college dealing with engineering with every aspect of producing a product...infact, thats what my final year project is based on.

does anyone here realize just how long and involved the process is?

you have to design the product.
get prices
get parts sources
get the equipment
prototype
fix the design
manuals
come up with the best possible manufacturing methods
do costing processes and floor layouts
get the man power
marketing
sponsors
legal stuff
and so on, and so on. it just keeps going

and lets also not forget that this is not a huge company like century, thunder tiger, align, and so on. those others have all kinds of money and man power to produce and release a product much quicker.

from my understanding, augusto is pretty much a one man army. and from what i also understand, he has been doing his best to get this machine 100% built in america, this means trying to find people willing to produce these components while still being competitive with the asian market.

i myself am going through this process right now for my college project. it is estimated it will take me 1000 hours over 8 months to complete...and all im doing is an engine with 58 different parts, not an entire helicopter.

this thing in the end is just a toy helicopter, yet some of you guys seem to think its the most important aspect of life that you cannot live without.

i have seen this thing fly in real life and would love to have one, but i wont cry like a baby because of some delays. things happen.

Dude we're not discussing how much it takes to build and sell a heli. I think most of us know that.

The underlying problem here is simple... WHY LIE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS?

For example, you said you're going to do a final year project... are you planning to lie to your teachers saying "soon" and "for christmas it will be done" for like two years?

Even if you deliver a fantastic project after 3 years, you're still going to have a lousy score (if they don't kick you out of school before) don't you agree?

WHY LIE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS?
Because they can.

And it's not so much deceit, but just sheer arrogance with an elitist attitude.

They figure people want this thing so much that they can do just about anything and still do no wrong. And they're right.

Exactly.

Why do all the basher "bashers" fail to see that this is the main problem and it has nothing to do with the quality/performance of the heli?

because that is their only 'excuse' I guess and the only thing they really have to hold onto to continue waiting while being promised over and over again its coming out.

Yes, AND I have a bit of knowledge of PR and marketing.

I think most people would be OK with it not being out if they got an honest answer and not "Soon".
i myself am going through this process right now for my college project. it is estimated it will take me 1000 hours over 8 months to complete
What would your professors say if you told them it would be done by Christmas, and a year later you were still telling them it would be turned in "soon"?

Thats the issue IMO...The only issue.

I wanted an aurora after IRCHA 2006. I was staying at the same hotel as Augusto. I asked him myself when it would release. he said 2 weeks. I quit waiting after reading this post by him. It made me realize that he really couldn't care less about the people who pay money to own his products. He was deceptive from the start and the deception hasn't ever subsided. I believe the helicopter looks wonderful but I just can't bring myself to support any company that is this manipulative. The following quote was posted sept 30,2006.

We are talking about a toy helicopter and you synergy cheerleaders come to the Avant forum and want to make it look as if a delay in a release is an end-of-the-world deal. I can almost see you hoffing and puffing in front of a computer over a toy helicopter release delay.
Stop being such drama queens and go fly your helis and let the rest of us fly whatever we want to fly.

If having a toy heli is so important in your life to get all worked up about it and go on the internet hoffing and poffing to post about it like it was the end of the world you better take a good hard look at the priorities in your life cause believe me they are simply not right.

The helis will come out whenever we feel they should come out and not a minute before or after. If anyone doesn't want to wait simply don't wait. Believe it or not it's as simple as that, no drama, no problem, no tears not end-of-humanity-as-we-know-it. You will simply be flying a different toy. No matter how much you want to make it look like an important subject we are still talking about the release of a toy helicopter that should have zero effect in your life.

In the meantime we'll still keep working as fast as we can simply because we want it out in the market as soon as possible. There is a large number of them out there being tested by all kind of people and we will finish that program despite all the childish drama. The drama does absolutely nothing to us and we will stay the course and finish with our testing and no I'm not going to get into discussions about why or how or anyhting about it simply because we as the manufacturers make those decisions based on our own private criteria.

It's as simple as this. You want an Aurora be patient cause it's coming out soon if you don't want to wait then simply don't wait. Yes it's as simple as that and no matter how much you hoff and puff and how much drama you want to create the fact remains that when released the Aurora will be what we believe is the best 3D heli in the market and whoever gets one will be completely floored with the performace but despite al of that that it will still be a toy helicopter and nothing will change that fact so grow up and learn how to enjoy your hobby.

I myself had to wait until very recently (2 weeks ago) to have a full kit myself and I didn't die or had some kind of attack. I simply waited because it was more important for us to have the testing program going. Was I able to sleep? yes, did it create a wormhole in the space-time continuum? of course not I simply had to be patient like the adult I am until it was my turn to get one that's all.

I still think everybody is missing the point of the original post.

Many people like myself regardless of how you may feel, are still willing to wait for the Aurora and are still willing to support Avant regardless of history or the fact that things could have been handled differently. That is a decision that everybody should be allowed to make without having to defend it.

It is your prerogative whether or not you are willing to deal with Avant. However, if you choose not to, there is no need to explain or justify your position or disappointment. Everybody is very clear on how the disappointed people feel. We have been reading about it for over a year now.

Maybe people are so upset that they want to somehow punish Augusto or get back at Augusto for all the disappointment they feel he is responsible for. If that is the case, the best thing you could do is stop talking about it, stop posting about it, and don’t purchase the product. Because those of you that have supposedly moved on, yet continuously justify your reasons for moving on have almost certainly given the Aurora more publicity than an extensive marketing campaign could ever do.

having watched this forum for a couple of years i have never posted because i did not have anything to say and have waited to see what you guys think of the heli ,i bought a synergy at the 2006 3D master's and love it but have always wondered if i did the right thing ...perhaps i should have waited ...but after reading Augusto's post i know now i made the right choice ....he has not got a clue and as far as i can see he does not have a good opinion of us heli flyers and he has no respect for us thats for sure .

But not in a good light. Plus all the "I bought a Synergy...I made the right choice" posts don't help. If you also look several are waiting to see what Align brings out in the 90 size.

So while I will grant you that Avant is getting "publicity", it is not resulting in good PR, or advertising. It is along the lines of the stories of the Ford Pinto bursting into flames from a rear collision.

Advertising sell products/services. PR creates/improves company image. Publicity just brings attention, that attention can be bad.

I find in interesting that the main cheerleaders don't own any Avant products at the current time. I think that says it all really. As the owner of an Avant FX I have experienced the "zero customer service" that is policy from the company and it's president. I have NEVER received an email back from the company when I had a question or not received my parts in a few weeks. And do you know there is NO PHONE NUMBER to call the company? Then I post a topic here asking for help and I get put on the now infamous "ignore" list. I think people who bash and criticize those of us who have direct experience with the company should try and educate themselves before continuing with the inaccurate statements.

It's not funny, it's pathetic. There is no joy in seeing potential customers jerked around. And what do you think will happen to the reportedly rotten customer service when there are hundreds of new users trying to get through?!
