Like I said. J Krause told me himself that the carbon boom caused problems on the trex 450 and to swap it out for the ali one. I did that and it solved my problem.

Then someone chimed in as I thought would happen and got all upset that I was trying to compare the 450 (yuk) to the Aurora (not available)

CY....states on his site (review the above link) that the carbon boom let a certain model down.

Now thats two top pilots that have commented that carbon booms aren't always that best.

I would imagine that all carbon and ali booms are not created equal either so some will be stiff and others weak. Some will cause vibes and some won't.

Yes, that is true, not all are created equal. Especially in the area of Align which I know has had a history of putting out some inferior carbon before.

So, with that, I will agree that carbon is not always stiffer than aluminum in certain cases, but unlike the blanket statement said earlier "Aluminum booms are stiffer than carbon." is not accurate either as I was simply pointing that out from my experience.

I thought I explained myself fairly clearly in one of my responses. If you make the carbon boom correctly with the right cross section for the application, it can be made to be siffer than aluminum. The constraint lies in the fact that if you take a CF boom that is identical to its aluminum counterpart, size for size, it won't be as stiff. The constraint comes from the fact that if you engineer the heli for a certain size tailboom because of TT components, front power take off and tail box dimensions, CF can be problematic in its application due to those constraints. This is why I made the statement, "Aluminum booms are stiffer than carbon". In retrospect, I should have been considerably more specific in my comments to preclude exactly what has been happening in this thread.

Regarding the Aurora boom, the carbon boom that I was able to test last year was as strong and stronger than the Predator aluminum heavy duty boom I tested against, thats where I basing my experience off of as of recently. Before I was playing around with X-cell tail booms, where the aluminum booms by them seemed a little stiffer than this predator boom I have now. Haven't really played around with Raptor booms or anything, but they always seemed more than adequate, possibly cause they are significantly shorter and belt drive so the tail box weighs less so there is chance of it flexing as much.

Friendly debate to further minds is always welcomed by me.

They really do exist!!!

I called Monday morning and HeliProz told me they only had a few canopies left. Most were snatched up over the thanksgiving weekend online. I guess parts for the silly thing really do exist.

The canopy is very nice and it reminds me of a MA canopy. Gelcoated but with a seam down the middle of the canopy. It is small and consistent however. EASILY block sanded off. Easily. The windshield has a groove all the way around it. Very nice. The canopy is light. Over all it is a nice canopy. It will be easy to make it look nice.

Now for someting to mount it to...

The Aurora canopy is made of Pre-preg, it also has a unidirectional ply on the back edge. It is done very nicely and is probably the best OEM canopy on the market with the exception to the canopies made by Funkey. The Aurora canopy is stiffer then the Funkey canopies however, which is important for high speed flight and crash survivability.

Its a nice canopy, now we just need the rest of the kit!!!!

There are new and BETTER canopies in works, not just for Aurora, but couple of different brands. Not by CX.
And don't ask me how I know.
At the rate everything is going , they will be on shelf before AURORA is actually released.

I just want to see it fly. No complaints here. I have been really busy with school, so I have not had time to fly anything, let alone a new heli. So I am glad that it is not out yet. This means that I have more time to practice.
