I agree with everything you wrote spork, except for the personal attack. Yes, I did sink to the same level with a personal attack on you and I apologize.

If he thought his actions were justified why did he have to lie to the other cop when he was telling him what happened. He said he was jumping all over the place.

Nah, as far as personal attacks go, you're a rank amateur

It's easy for either of us to get over-excited by a topic like this at 1:00am after a long day. And for the record I should admit I'm strongly biased on the topic of cops, ethics, and their feeling that they are above the law.

To me he looked pretty nervous when he was relating the story to the 2nd cop on the scene - while standing in front of the same camera that took the video he knew would tell the real story.

East Mesa Az.

My Posts: All  Forum  Topic

A Mesa, Az. cop was just found guilty of pulling women over and molesting them while on duty. One of his victims was less than eighteen years old.

A Mesa, Az. sergent has been diciplined for yelling racial obcenities and "flipping the bird" at hispanic protestors while on duty.

A police sergent in Ill. is under investigation for murdering TWO of his wives.

A manhunt is underway in Arizona for a State Trooper who ran over a motorcyclist while drunk and is thought to be hiding in Mexico as we speak.

An Arizona State Trooper failed to break off a chase when ordered to do so and killed an innocent young father on his way to (or from?) work.

A serial killer on the FBI's most wanted list for more than a decade turns out to be a Federal Law Enforcement Officer.

A woman is repeatedly tasered and kicked while on the ground. (This was just on TV).

A woman dies in police custody here in Arizona. She strangled herself with her handcuffs. Ya, right.

This is just a couple.

What is your headline going to say Brett?

that CNN video is absolutely appalling!

there seems to be a trend growing here. More and more "taser misuse" videos are popping out of the woodwork. I wonder how many more will pop up?

I think the reason its more common is because the police see it as an easy way to get their way.

Shooting a person and killing them all the time would land you in jail, so they just whip out the tazer and zap.

IMO its the "I dont want to deal with this crap, but I still want to get paid" attitude that is so pervasive in the police profession.

Most police will do anything to avoid doing their job, especially where I live, if it means paper work, then they dont want to know, if it means getting up, they dont want to know, etc etc etc....

I think Bad Karma is onto something. Bullets kill innocent civilians, and that almost always leads to a bunch of cumbersome paperwork.

apparently more and more departments are finding out the hard way that tasers have the ability to do the same thing. I wonder how much paperwork has to get done after that?

Officer Tased Pregnant Woman; Caught on Tape Marked as: Featured
Officer Uses Taser On Pregnant Woman
Police Say They Didn't Know Woman Was Pregnant

November 29, 2007 TROTWOOD, Ohio -- The FBI is investigating after a Trotwood police officer used a Taser on a pregnant woman.

Trotwood Public Safety Director Michael Etter said the incident happened on Nov. 18. He said the woman arrived at the police department asking to give up custody of her 1-year-old son.

Etter said an officer spoke with the woman as she held onto the child outside the police department.

"(He) attempted to obtain information on both the mother and the child, at which time the mother refused to give any information and became very agitated," Etter said.

Surveillance video from the police department shows the woman trying to leave with the child. The officer then grabs her coat in an effort to get her to stop.

Etter said the officer was doing what he thought was in the best interest of the boy.

The video shows the woman struggling with the officer, who then takes the child from her and gives the boy to another officer. The first officer then forces the woman down on her stomach, and he then uses a Taser on her neck.

Etter said the officer did not know the woman was pregnant.

"She did not disclose, even after she was arrested, that she was pregnant," Etter said. He said the woman was wearing a large winter coat and had her child on her lap when she was talking to the officer.

Etter said the department is cooperating with the FBI investigation, and there is also an ongoing internal investigation to see if the use of force was warranted for the situation.

Etter said the officer involved is still on duty.

Trotwood's policy on use of force states that officers should "greatly evaluate each situation with discretion when anticipating the deployment of the Taser on young children, elderly persons and pregnant females."

The woman involved in the case declined to make a statement, saying only that she feels "unjustly served," the television station reported.

Officers said the 1-year-old boy was put into the custody of a family member after the incident.

Preggo or not, use of force was not required in that incident. you don't have to be involved to understand that. when is the last time a lone woman beat up a police officer? The woman definitely didn't break any laws either...

I'll say it again...

Police departments need to start training their officers how to better positively interact with the public, afterall, it is they who serve us, not the other way around.

Or they need to take tazers and guns away from average cops, and have specially trained armed responce units (eg SWAT) be on call if needed.

Thats how it works over here, no cop can just carry a gun just because they are a cop.

There is too much of this sh1t happening.

thats a good idea.

Now let me ask you how long it takes those special response units over there in the UK to respond to an incident in which such force is required?

Having special response units on call wouldnt work becuase the situations in which tasers ARE required develop and end, it seems, rather quickly within minutes if not shorter...

Training and training and more training is required but thats not it. Departments need to better analyze the type of people they are hiring. I know a bunch of kids from my highschool who were people who got picked on and lusted for the day that they could get back at people. these people lust for power and those are teh exact types of people who Shouldnt be put into a position of power...
