A fully adaptable 30.5cc power torque engine is already proven to work and fit in a Maxum Heli..... Got it from Realheli and install it as soon as i received the item.... it's only my 2nd flight with my new 30.5cc engine and already notice the big difference in terms of torque....... Breaking-in with my previous engine will take a while before it will starts to hover because of lack of power but with my new 30.5cc engine, just 1-2 pull and already the engine start and immediately responded with my controls even though i used a richer fuel mixture of 1L gasoline and 50ml oil.... Can't tell if this baby is smoother compare to my 3dmax engine since i haven't finish breaking-in it yet..... but in its low and midrange i can feel the smooth and power the engine deliver.....

Have some over-heating issues with the MPI Voltage regulator and right now i don't really know what to do... can anyone help me????

Here's the electronic specs.....

- on-board generator
- MPI 15A Voltage Regulator set at 6volts
- 4cell Ni-cad Batter @ 4.8volts
- 3 cyclic DS8711
- 1 throttle DS8715
- Gyro 601 with 5.1v stepdown to rudder
- New Tech battery monitor w/ alarm for 4.8volts only

Hope you could help me solve my problem..... Thanks

JAG-19:

Do you know what type of voltage regulator your MPI 15Amp is? I can't imagine anyone using a linear regulator, but that's the first thing that comes to mind. Switching regulators are MUCH more efficient and do not overheat as easily.

Also, what type of generator are you using? Is it a home-built unit or commercially available? Does it have a rectifier circuit and it's own regulator on the output, or does it feed the MPI regulator directly?

Just curious. . . let me know.

Just bought the whole generator set from RealHeli... All I know is that the motor brand is "Hacker", the MPI Regulator is also modified which will be connected in the generator motor....

Talked to the RealHeli Technical Team Found out that the regulator is overloaded. We have isolated the problem by tracing and computing all electronics current drain in my heli.. What we did is maintain the 3 DS8711 servo for the cyclic, remove the battery monitor, change the throttle servo to a lower specs digital servo, and set the voltage regulator to 5.4v. Now it's my 7th Tank and it fly like an angel......

JAG19: how about the vibration issue of your 30.5cc engine? someone in the thread before had mentioned that this engine got a lot of vibration. Maybe you can give light to this one.

Sorry cannot update you guys of my engine (same engine as JAG19) because haven't receive yet my new radio. but don't worry it is already in transit.

hahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahaha there just making issues i guest..... My 30.5cc with stuffed crank runs smoother compare to the stock 26cc and 29cc engine. But when compare to 3D max Engine i admit Hanson engine is smoother.... Power are very noticeable maybe around 30-40% increase.....
