Catastrophic bearing failure took out my crank and scored up the piston.

Sorry to hear that. Would it be cheaper to repair or replace? I think it would be easier to replace beacause finding parts for the YS 50 is very hard.

Is that a stock bearing? Metal retainers will never survive.

YS parts and service has all the parts in stock, parts are easy to find if you look in the right place. You can use the crank, just grind the webs off like we do on the OS.

Yes I believe that is the stock bearing.

What are the webs for? They look like they seal off the front portion of the crankcase. Will it effect the way it runs? What about balance?

YS Parts and Service does not list the part numbers.

It should be ok with the webs removed, with the os it helped balance the engine a little better. The web just covers the rear bearing, dont think it will make any difference, the new 91 SR doesn't have the webs.
The YS 50 uses the same bearings as the OS 50.

Bearings

Doug is right that the crank would be fine with that section of web removed. If the piston is scratched, the sleeve and ring are likely damaged as well. Whether it's worth it to buy a new piston, ring, sleeve, and bearings is another question. steve.

Sleeve looks ok. So at this point if I can re-use the crank, it needs bearing, piston and ring.
