Guys I'm sure someone else has experienced the problem that I am having. It just started today. Twice under a hard collective/cyclic load my EVO made a sound that sounded like the main gear slipping/stripping gears. I inspected the main gear and it seems to be perfect. My hunch is that the oneway bearing in the hub is going out but not sure. It does seem to have quite a bit of play in the gear. The heli has about 160 flights on it so I guess it's about time for some stuff to start wearing out. I replaced the main gear at about 90 flights. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Could you be more specific about the sound? Did the engine surge as if there was no load or did you just hear a grinding noise?

If the engine suddenly surged then it is likely to be the oneway.

Yes that is exactly what it did, there was a sudden increase in RPM and a grinding noise. It probably lasted about 1 sec each time.

Sounds like either clutch liner or one way bearing to me.

Walk on water long enough, eventually you will get your feet wet.

Mine went at about 50 hrs, just a hair line crack in the casing, enough to have it slip though. Definately fix it quick or it will be a one way alright...... down.
