Hi everyone, I am fairly new pilot and have been on the sim for a while now. I want to get a e-heli and love the razor. I want to know if it's a good idea to buy the razor or something else. How long would it take a novice to assemble? I don't really want to start off with a lame heli and wanted to try one of the best.

i have 2 razors and i think theyre great. assembly is straight forward with a good set of instructions on cd. plus there is plenty of good help from the guys on the forums. if your on a tight budget be aware that repair cost is higher than a terex 600, etc. but the quality is worth it imo.it usually cost me about 60 bucks after a crash but can also be twice that (less shipping and rotor blades) my brother in law has a trex 600 with about the same amount of flights as one of my razors. its noisey and sloppy (controls). my razors are tight, stay tight, and dont make all that gear noise. also with all the pulley ratios available you can run a wide range of motors and voltages and it flys sooooo smooth. the head and swash is very rugged as it is the same one MA uses on their 90 machines. in the future you can also modify it for larger blades and 12s

Busted said it best, although i dont own a razor, i do have an Extreme and a STRATUS, and they fly tight and stay tight, a little more money when u put them in but they are worth it, not knocking the 600's in fact with a 600 you can become a damn good 3D pilot faster as the expense fear drops dramatically, its hard to top a MA machine for sure....Ivan!

HAVE YOU EVER FLOWN A STRATUS? THEN YOU KNOW!

Thanks for the advice. What setup should I go with (ratio, motor, batteries, carger)? I really dont want to get into heavy 3d flying just some basic heli flying.

i have been using the hacker (least expensive motor) with the jazz 55-10-32 and 10s tp 3850's. i have also been using the evolution 620mm blades (from MA).these carbon blades are 70 bucks. ive been through 2 sets and they have been perfectly balanced out of the box. i did some bench and flight tests with the data logger and found a 9.0:1 ratio to be the best compromise at 2050 hs and 10 deg of pitch. i can bang on this for 4min 30 seconds putting back 80% into the packs. mild flying should be about 5-6 min. also tried the 8.72 which seemed to just draw more amps but may be better for 600mm blades/ 3d. the 9.6 ratio at about 1900-1950 should let you fly mild for 6-7 min. the 9.6 was a little too mushy for me though.i use the tp 210 balancer and 1010 charger. this setup balances the packs well if you stop charging when the balancer sounds. if you let the charger continue till its done it throws the packs out of wack.
