I melted my second main gear today, the first meltdown was due to the Align pinion I was using, the gear pitch is different from the Quick, Jimboe helped me out with that, I installed a Quick 9t pinion, today it flew about four minutes, twice as long, before the melt down, I beleive the tail drive gear is too snug also, I need some advice on gear backlash and what I should be looking for when installing the motor and the tail drive gear.

I always use a peice of yellow legal pad paper folded in two and pressed between the motor/counter gear and main gear and it always gives the perfect gear lash...
I am running a 10 tooth pinion and a 23 tooth counter gear on my EP16v2 , and a 10t pinion and a 27 tooth counter gear on my EP8v2 EX, I have never had a gear problem using this method. And I am running some very powerful motors on my Quicks!!
I have been flying Quick of Japan helis for a couple of years now and never a problem with gearing!

I've read alot of good things about the EX, I like my 450s, but they are so lite, whem I'am tired after work I like to take a casual flight around the yard, if its not dead calm, those 450s are alot of work, it seems you always have to fly aggressively, its hard to relax and enjoy yourself.

Yup , I like my Trex450 v2 SE , BUT , none of my helis can even come close to my EP8v2 EX!!!

Can't waite till Friday, its RTF with HS- 81 for the cyclic, XS-621 digital tail servo, 890kv motor with a 50amp ESC, Telebee gyro which is the same as the Align 500x I flew on my T-Rex, didn't like it, it wouldn't accept two values for the sensitivity, the GEAR setting for stick seemed to be the only value it would accept, no matter what GEAR setting I tried in idle-up the nose would drift left, it will work till I get a 401, and a 4S 2200mAh lipo, all I need is a reveiver, I might pull the receiver and the 240 gyro off my Dragonus and give it a rest. I do have a question on if I should change the battery to the dual 3S I use for the 16, I have an 8t and a 9t pinion, the 9t is on the 16, my charging capabilities are limited to 4S right now, and all my batteries are 3S, this would be my first 4S battery.
