Well, a few weeks ago I had a problem with my heli, and my ESC caught fire, I hadn't done anything with it because my Raptor was running good, but now I've got a little time, I decided to replace the ESC, so I did.

Soldered all my connections, turned radio on, plugged batter in. Got the 3 tone power on, then nothing, no control. So, I figured it might need to be programmed, so I increased throttle to maximum, and after a few seconds, it gave me the programming beeps, but couldn't do anything from there.

Disconnected everything, tried again, nothing, no beeps on power up nothing. ATV's set at 100, neutral trim, DX-7 radio with AR-6000 receiver.

All other functions are normal (rudder, cyclic, collective), just nothing from the ESC itself. Replaced the motor incase that was suspect, and same thing.

Any ideas? is it possible that it's bad without turning the motor at all?

Thanks
wayne

That's an interesting one.

Have you checked the condition of the three wires running between the ESC and motor? I assume you have also checked the polarity of these wires.

Also, were you able to complete the ESC's programing?

let's see, yes, wires between the motor and ESC were checked (but I'll pull the heat shrink off of them to be sure that I'm not missing something somewhere)

the polarity is good on the input power, and swapped two wires to the motor as a "just in case"

Throttle position doesn't matter, full, minimum, trims to extremes and ATV's adjusted all the way.

I was not able to complete the programming, infact, it hadn't gotten to the single pulses to indicate being on the first menu yet, just the series of tones that let you know you are entering the programming feature.

hmmm, still thinking, thanks

Definately sounds like another ESC issue. Do you have another ESC that you can swap in to check?

Also, you've probably already checked this but is the battery ok?

unfortunately I don't have another one for testing, my only spare is a GWS that's only a 15 amp,... but I guess for testing it'd be fine.

Yeah, checked the battery, and it checked OK, but tried another one just in case, nothing.

Well, maybe the sleep fairy will come up with a fix for me, otherwise I'm out one ESC

Thanks for the input!!

Increase the End Points on your throttle channel. Try 120% on both ends.

I have 2 ESCs that had similar symptoms. for some strange reason I had to put my throttle trim all the way down before it would initialize. then once that was done they both worked flawlessly.

Then on a AR6000
It would give a powered up tone but it wouldent initialize. the problem turned out to be a defect in the reciever.

Hope that solves your problem

I've tried the throttle trim, but not since I've rebinded, so I'll give that another shot

I tried a small 15a ESC with the receiver and it worked OK, but I'll play with my other AR6000 and see if I can get it to bind

Thanks, I'll be back in touch!!

MTX,

gave both ideas a shot, put in my 2nd ar-6000 receiver, all other function, but nothing from the ESC

trim all the way down, and again adjusted ATV's to 130%, still nothing

it looks like I might have to wright this one off

it's all out of the heli, but I will post pics tomorrow. I have read about the low noise level if the motor is not installed, and have tried everything in both positions, just seems easier to work on out of the heli

Thanks again for all the help
