Yesterday a guy at the field had the clutch show break on his T-Rex.

Today I was looking at a brand new kit and would make these observations:

1. The lining is very thin and the person who fitted it wasn't very careful as there was a gap of about 1 mm between the ends of the lining.

2. The gap between the shoe and the lining is in my opinion way too big.

My suggestion to anyone about to start building their kit is to purchase and fit the Hirobo lining 0400-004 or similar type of lining. It is twice the thickness therefore reducing the gap and should do a much better job.

Okay, so I do a search and find that this problem was discovered over 4 months ago and still the same problem exists.

You guys out there keep telling us that Align is quick to fix things!!!

It has been fixed in my kit that I bought over 2 months ago in Australia. I suspect that because the importers here only bring in a few kits at a time from Align that we get the kit changes much quicker than countries like the UK and US.
Just yesterday I saw another new kit that was purchased last week and the canopy mounts had been moved from where they are on mine.... Changes are happening all the time, but if you buy a kit and its been sitting in the shop for 4 months you might not see the fixes!

On both of mine, I have removed the bearing and let it soak for a good hour in Acetone. After that the liner came right out with the X-acto knife. I replaced the liner with the Thunder Tiger Raptor 90 lining. It was a little snug with the clutch but a couple of engine revs while holding the rotor head set it in perfect. It works great. Haven't had any slipping.

If the UK distribution chain is sitting with stock that has known to be suspect parts that have been upgraded then they should make every effort to get the upgraded parts into the kits before sending the kits to the shops and the shops should do the same before selling them to Joe Public. IMO.

Filby if what you suspect is true then it is a ****ty thing these suppliers and sellers are doing here and does nothing to promote a good business relationship.

j5coat, That's exactly the point. It is such a low cost part that suppliers and sellers could put in the box knowing that it has to be done and promoting a good business ethic.

Ok everyone lets be honest, we all know that if we buy a 600N (like I have) that we are considered R&D for Align. If you don't expect there to be little issues with a brand new machine, then buy a Hirobo Shuttle! I for one love my 600N, and yes I upgraded a few things right out of the box. Just my two cents, take it for that.

As far as I know the resellers don't have any idea that there are changes in the kits they are selling. I think, like most industries, the changes just bleed through into the new units and over a period of time there are no more problems.

When I posted this I wasn't actually having a bash. It was more of a heads up thing to those about embark on what might be the first model they are going to build.
