Hi,
I have the Arizona Regulator, but have not yet purchased the 8-ball. It is my understanding that this tests voltage under a 1 amp load. Is there a way for me to construct my own home made eight ball using the multi-meter (voltage tester from lowes) that I already have? Have I missed any prior posts? It seems like I should be able to make one with $3.00 of parts from radios shack.
Thanks,
J

All you need is about a 7 Ohm, 10W resistor or network of resistors to arrive at that. Assuming the battery was 7 V under load, that would give you a 1 A load. Since the recommended no fly voltage is 6.9 V, if it were to show, say, 7.5 V while conneced to 7 Ohm resistor, it would actually be 7.5 V at 1.07 A.

If you want to go one step further, you could use a variable voltage regulator and some well chosen resistor values to construct a 1 A load.
