It wasn't really a crash, but I had a stupid accident with my MJ2.
Result is I need new blades and tail boom(sound like a boom strike!).

I thought, while I am at the repairs I would fit the 45degree tail.

Does anyone know whether the upgrade includes a tail boom, or whether I will need to still order a standard tail boom too?

Of course I should ask the dealer, but I am on holiday in another country, too impatient to wait, thought I'd see if anyone here knows

thanks

From Revolution Models up in Chesire:
The upgrade kit contains:

- 45° gear with 4 ball bearings

- tail boom CfC, short

- belt drive 1800 / 1596 mm long

- belt drive 513 / 456 long - linkage parts

Price: £63.79 £74.95 Including VAT at 17.5%

There's been enough talk about the raised tail not being "useful" as Minicopters removed it from the standard kit and made it an option.
It flys well with or without it.
There is a theory I read about the raised TR having the center of rotation being in the same plane of rotation as the main blades and this is worthwhile from an engineering view...depending on your engineering thoughts and this sounds logical.
I think Peter Maas has some good things to say about it, but your going to have to search for anything he's written about it.

However, I think minicopter know what they are doing so if they removed it as a standard item then it is good without it.
What it does do is get your TR out of the grass and I like that idea as some of my sights have been less then perfect

I just ordered one from Revolution to have if I really feel I need it for the grass stains on my blades, but also at some point in the future I would like to do a scale CH54 and this would make that kit work. Just thought I would buy it now before it goes extinct.

thsnks for that. i might order one.
Good for the grass, plus it looks interesting because it is a little different from all the other pod and booms

I fitted one after a recent 'incident' on my joker2 as I fly from longer grass alot. It does work well.
The only issue I have found is it seems to create more drag on the auto unit. I am going to review my belt tension on the second belt to the tail. It is not an issue in flight but I have not tried to auto the heli since the conversion and worry that the extra drag could be an issue when trying to maintain headspeed in the descent.

Regards

Fergus
