I don't remember what it did when it was new - but, I disasembled my helicopter the other day to repair clutch lining and noticed their was some metal to metal friction on my os 50 hyper when I turned the shaft (shaft facing up toward the sky while trying to unscrew the propeller nut). Surprised, I than took off the back plate to inspect the inside. I noticed that the crankshaft had a 1mm play. It can move in and out. When I pulled it away from the backplate - no rubbing. when I pushed it towards the back plate - their is rubbing. Looking inside, when the crankshaft moves toward the backplate the connecting ROD hits the crankcase - where I noticed the rubbing occurs. Is that normal?

Finally, when I scew in the clutch bell assembly and the propeller nut - no play and no friction. Is the nut what hold everything in place? I never dissasembled the whole motor before so not sure what happens at the ball bearing area.

Its working as advertised.

Some guys have problems when the fan backs off a few threads and lets the crank pin rub the backplate, it will drive you nuts trying to figure out why it over heats.

When everything is tight you dont have any problems.
