Great looking bird. Show us a pic with it sitting on the skids. Looks like those skids are at a weird angle that would put the T/R in the dirt.

the skids sit with a fairly nose high attitude but it still keeps the tail out of the ground.

I agree with both your points. Hopefully it will be a painless fix, 'cuz it is a great looking heli otherwise.

The landing gear on Hughes 500's, OH-6 and 369 (which is what this one is) are all different. Some have the tail level, some are angled downward and some have the skids really short where the belly of the fuse almost touches the ground. It all depends on how it is configured.

looks to me like they haven't changed the angle of the helicopter to the ground in those photos, just appears so because of the position of the photographer.

I would think there would be some issues in reconfiguring the angle of a fullsize machines fuse....

you know, you guys are just like i am about landing gear, very critical. the gear is something i look at very closely on models i see. the gear on many helis is the toughest thing to get right. so far as i can see, none of the manufacturers out there have gotten it right with the hughes 500 as built per kit. the thunder tiger 50 size one probably comes the closest in my opinion but not perfect. it is also tough to modify because of the location of the legs in the fuse and the fact that it slants forward and outward at the same time.
i know how much work Jay put into this one and it looks much better than when it started. it even squats when you set it down just like the fullsize. he definately came up with some new cusswords doing that one up.

haha, I like the Funkey 50 size Hughes 500D - Almost got it right IMHO You're right - The skids make or break the heli - especially with the hughes
