Yes, but all you have to do is tell them to read the FCC stickers on the devices they have where it says "this device must accept any interference it receives". The worst thing to do is to stop operating.

heres a little update yesterday on the Current article. from the paper.

If common sense could be mandated, Jackson Local School District officials surely must wish such a law were on the books.

They say they never gave Daniel Mills permission to land his vintage helicopter on school grounds. But that’s what he did on Aug. 31, dropping down into a field at Strausser School on Strausser St. NW so he could leave his kids at soccer practice.

Picture it, a helicopter flying low over a residential neighborhood and then landing about the length of a football field from where students are playing soccer. You don’t have to be part of the paranoiac black-helicopter crowd to feel some anxiety at the prospect.

This is not your everyday occurrence and never will be. Trying to prevent it through regulation would not be practical or worth the effort. Besides, unlike common sense, trespassing is a charge that police and the courts can enforce.

its a mans game...no padded this or that or helmets...kind of like arena football.

A pilot does not need clearance from the FAA to land in an open field. He DOES need permission. The writer is an idiot.

I love how the press can say the pilot did not file with the FAA and make it seem like a bad thing, then slam the FAA for not getting upset in the same story.

But, he could be charged with trespass since he did not have permission from the school.

Jeez, its not as if he left it there, nor blew out the windows in the school. Personally, the school dist should be using him as a promo for the soccer games. "Our program is so good, people FLY their children in." Maybe the district should paint up a heli pad in the endzone, next to the consession stand and minivan parking.

As an amatuer extra, having a commercial license as well, I understand about the antennas. I had that trouble, cost me a bundle to prove them wrong. I ended up fixing it on my own as well, stupid cable company.

To the average person, that sticker means nothing. They would rather fight (read sue) you and have many lawyers that will do just that. If you have a real heli and can afford the fees, well, antenna up. Otherwise, you will have to do like i have with hidden antennas.
BTW, to be so off topic!

maa44646, why are you trying to create a problem where there is none ? ?
You sound like chicken little running around crying "the sky is falling".

Showing others there is more to life than their predictable existence is not against the law.

It's not a matter of not wanting to read it. it's a matter of dispelling the FUD and sticking to the facts.

I know a lot of people that were "made" in 1969, does that mean they are bad or non-functional ? ?

I know a lot of people that don't necessarily seek permission to stop and let someone off, does that mean they're bad ? ?

So he used a heli instead of a car, how is that a problem ? ?
He acted responsibly (300ft). How is that bad ? ?

Some people lead a sheltered (limited) life.

why are you arguing with him airwolf? all he did was post a quote from a followup article in the paper. argue with the writer if your panties are in such a wad. i see nothing in his post that indicates any of that is his opinion.

if it ain't broke, break it.

interesting to know how many in here that feel it was no big deal actually have kids in school.

also i did not see anywhere whether elementary or middle school, not that it would make a difference

given the issues definitely not a hight school.

Since when is a school field private property? It is bought with our Taxes thus is public property.
