Caliber 5 owners -- if you were having trouble getting that 15-tooth pinion to change the gear ratio of your C5 from the stock 9.65:1 to the 9.1:1 ratio, good news, the stock pinion on the Caliber 4 is the pinion you want -- 15 tooth, PN CA 5506! With the 4 on the scene, the pinion ought to be readily available.

Caliber 30 owners -- if you want to change YOUR stock gearing from the 9.65:1 to 9.1:1 and be like the Caliber 4, just order the CA5506 pinion, the CA5108 hub and CA5109 gear from the Caliber 5. They should drop right in and you will then have the same gearing as the Caliber 4.

I'd think you could also order the linkage kit from the Caliber 4 (don't have the PN handy) and could upgrade your 30 from those non-adjusting flexible pushrods to the thicker, adjustable pushrods.

And if you hadn't made yourself a servo frame stiffener for your Caliber 30, I believe the new servo tray from the Caliber 4 (again, PN not ready at hand) should drop right in and give you the stiffener as a bonus!

Dave, do you know if the Cal 4 or Cal 5 head design would allow the phasing slider/stop to be subbed into a Cal 30? The stock Cal 30 is sloppy as we all know but the metal upgrade is a bit expensive for what it is.

Just a thought.

Never, ever, ever, ever give up.

For a moment I think Kyosho will change for free our composite swashpates for the new metal ones when I read the head of your thread.

Anyway there are good news for us, ugly ducks flyers.

The Caliber 5 and Caliber 30 washout assembly and radius block designs are identical.

You could use the fixed phase stuff from the new Caliber 4 on the 30 and the 5, but you would need to replace the washout base as well as get rid of the aluminum hub on the 30 and 5 and replace them with the plastic hub of the 4.

The fixed phase thing looks nice, is slop free, but only in a few cases is the slop in the Caliber 30/5 radius block bad enough to require any action at all. For most folk, the stock 30/5 washouts and radius blocks are fine.
