Does anyone know how to bypass a firewall at work? I am not behind a proxy server just a firewall. I work the graveyard shift and it can get mighty boring at times. I like to play DAoC but I cannot do it here because of the firewall.

Thanks

Are there any other known ports that the DAOC client can use? May want to check the websites tech faq on that

Or its possible that your company is using a web content filtering system.

Be careful if you do. My company occasionally conducts witch hunts for those who do this. They promptly fire them if they're found guilty of it. Check your employers' company computer usage policy carefully. Most companys do have technoweenies that audit such things.

The only way to be able to play DAoC from your work would be to have the ports required opened on the firewall, which I highly doubt you will be able to do.

Now, there are some things you would be able to to do like someone said above, like terminal service to your windows box at home and run the client on that machine, but that assumes they allow port 3389 out through the firewall, which any admin worth a damn will not. Heck, I can't even SSH through the firewall where I work, nor can I do an external nslookup. We're pretty locked down, and rightly so.

All that being said, even if you were able to do it, I wouldn't. If you've got a network engineer that's worth a damn, they'll know it and you'll get busted and probably fired.

Dammit...you just got me logged by the filter.

If you're really that bored and are sick of solitaire, pick up a DS-Lite. Mine's gotten me through many a slow night shift.

Thanks for the info guys, but I think I'll err on the side of caution and try it out. A friend of mine used to be the head Comp. Serv. Tech and told me that it was too risky.

I'm going to close this topic and once again thanks for everyone's input.
