Hi All,

Anyone using a Park 370 5400kv on the blade cp/pro? If you are, what throttle curve are you using for normal and idle?

I just got a park 370 5400 kv to play around with on the blade cp and its toooooo fast using a 9t pinion. I'm currently using a park 370 4100 kv with 9t and thought a 5400kv would support the extra weight.

The only difference in the 2 motors is their RPM per Volt and therefore what gear ratio you need to use to get the head speed you want

You can shave about 400rpm by dropping to an 8t pinion (about 3000rpm) - A 7t with the right pitch might be tricky to find (about 2700rpm - equal'ish to the 4100kv w/ 9t)
(I wonder if a 5400/8t would give a different run time than a 4100/10t though - curious/doubtful)

Park370/5400kv
10t = 3800rpm
9t = 3400rpm
8t = 3000rpm

Park370/4100kv
10t = 3000rpm
9t = 2600rpm
8t = 2300rpm

Park370/3600kv
10t = 2500rpm
9t = 2300rpm
8t = 2000rpm

How about setting the throttle curve on the radio? Will it be ok to run this motor with a lower setting?

Sure - It just may not run as efficiently - But you said you have a 4100kv so why not just run that one at 100% instead of trying to slow down the 5400kv?

You are right. I only got the 5400kv because of the weight my blade carries. I do however run the 4100kv at 100% efficiency using a 9t.

I guess I will have to sell this motor.

Thanks for the input.

I'd try an 8t on it and compare run time and heat to the 4100kv/10t before getting rid of it - 3000rpm head speed makes for snappy aerobatics - 3400 (9t) would be a bit much though - Kyle Stacy was running 3200 (4100/11t) awhile

I think I am ging to run it on an 8t for a while to compare. I will have to lower the throttle curve. Here is my next question, when I purchased this motor I did not realize it was for a 2 cell lipo. I only have 3 cell. Will the motor burn out even if I add a heat sink to it? What about main blade size? Currently I have installed the cp2 blades, will it run better with longer blades? I have a brushless dd tail so each rotor will not smack each other.

I didn't know it wasn't rated for 3S either - With a 10t pinion and a 2S pack it would actually give 2500rpm head speed but you say you don't have any 2S packs - Me I'd just run the 4100kv and forget about the 5400kv especially now in light of it's lower voltage rating

I'd follow the manufacturer's specifications. You are using that motor for the wrong application.

Turn on a dime. Flip like a quarter. Feel like a million bucks.
