10S NEU

Is it worth it?
More power?
Less flight time?
$600?
less packs for flights?

It's funny, I just did what your thinking about, only I went to 8 Cell 3700 setup. Thought about it the same as you, and the 8 cell packs are close to $80 cheaper per pack ($299) compared to the 10 cell. Both are a improvement over the 6 cell setup, and I'm sure the 10 cell will yield the most power.

You'll see my 1515/2.5 D, 2 XL motors, and 2 L motors along with some Evo 4900's up for sale very soon.

Good luck, and remember, it's only money

why

are you saying that you are going to ruin the packs that you have currently, just to take them and sell them, so you can get new ones..

I am sure if TP finds out people are intentionally damaging their packs, they won't be as willing to help us out as they are now..

I just can't believe you would post this publically, for everyone to read that..I hope I have something wrong about this!!

I agree with dingaling02. It's bad ethics to begin with, then it potentially hurts other honest pilots with damaged packs that qualify for replacements.

Please revise your post of that bad idea, avatar71. TP customer service is top notch, but let's not abuse their kindness.

I dont think he means he will fly his packs and purposely destroy them, although I could be wrong. It was my interpretation he would use them normally and if they start crapping out within the warranty period, send them in for checkup and replacement.

If they are in good shape now, you should sell them before they weaken and get your money without dealing with the warranty.

However, if he uses them, and they crap out, or they are found defective, I see no reason why he shouldn't send them in and get a replacement. Thats what the warranty is there for.
I'm sure you guys would do the same if it were your $300 bucks

I actually just sent one in for the same reason, but I had treated it very good, and like posted, TP was awesome with their customer service.
I would def. send it back if it gets weak for some reason, but I got from his post that he was going to intentionally "weaken" them to sell them to get new ones to sell..That makes the honest folks struggle to get things sent back in, because these companies are so tired of being abused...
If that is not what you meant, im sorry, but people who abuse things aren't making things any easier for those who are honest...If you are going to take advantage, don't publically post it for everyone to see..

TO BE CLEAR! I know that even under perfectly ideal charging and discharging of packs, voltage drops off.

I have NOT and have NO intention of mishandling the packs that I have invested $600 into. I have every intention to go out and fly as much as I can.

I have had great experiences with thunderpower (and others) in the past and I also KNOW that getting packs from them in the past come at a high cost. Never have I gotten anything for free from them yet I have always purchased their product and will continue to do so eventhough there have been other companies that have delivered equal if not better customer service. Regardless, I am SURE that TP wants as many of their packs out there as possible.

Avatar,

Back to the subject at hand, the 10s setup WILL give you more consistent, stable raw power than the 6s. I have both setups and although I can do everything I do with the 6s that I do with the 10s, the 10s is so far ahead in terms of power. The 10s setup is a little heavier but it also has much more power. I'm running the Neu 1515/2Y on my 10s and I have heard the 1910 is THE motor for 10s. My migration to 10s was a little easier because I had 2 sets of batteries already (2 6s 3700s from my Swift and 2 4s 3700s from my Lepton).

If I had a choice, I'd surely fly the 10s exclusively.

I guess it really depends on how much you have to spend. The 10s setup gives me more power than my 600N as well. However, the nitro gives me longer flight times.

avatar,

Sorry if I offended you. I just misinterpreted it, and I said in my post that I hoped I was wrong. Sorry for assuming. I just thought you were saying you were going to ruin the packs, then replace them just to avoid the cost of buying new ones..

10S is a far better setup. You will get a lot more steady power throughout your flight. I am running a HFE frame, and can run up to 12S, but haven't done so up to this point...

Either who, sorry for the confusion and best of luck with your lipos!

just fly the 6s packs, and spend money on parts and more 6s packs. Going 10s isn't worth it IMHO.

4cyclic,

I'm sure many battery suppliers would agree with you. Why, because they will sell a lot more 6s packs! There is no doubt that this heli fly's great on 6s, but if you want more runtime and longer component life (including batteries) then you should go to 10s imop (12s would even be better, but the cost/benefit is not much better).

I have 6x FP 5s1p Evo20 3700 packs that I use 2-in-series = 10s that have well over 200 cycles and they still perform like new. I have yet to talk to any hard 6s flyers that have got much more than 100 cycles out of their packs. I believe that 50-100 is more the norm.

You do the maths, it does not take more than a couple of battery change-outs to make a 10s setup much more economical.

Cheers,
Tom C
