Anyone using the Jr DS8717 on a trex 600 6s eheli (600xl motor)? I see most of the comments about these servos are with people running them on nitro helis. Does the weight affect the flight much? If so would someone at my skill level(described below) notice? I am new to the 600 scene so I have nothing to compare it to when I get my system put together.

My current skill level on the 450se is very slow piros both inverted and upright within a 1 to 2 foot area and getting comfortable with inverted flight. I can do sloppy rainbows, very sloppy tic-tocs, etc. Trying to work on funnels now but that is going slowly.

OK, may be I will try to answer that question since I am on the same skill level as you are.

The answer is NO. I currently have two 600E one with JR DS8401 (11kg/cm 0.19sec 4.8V) and the other with Futaba S9255 (9kg/cm 0.16sec 4.8V) and I can't tell the differece between them. I guess it's not till we get to a higher level before we can tell the difference between flight. For me rite now, those crazily fast servo are more like bling factors.
