Thanks JIMBO for the info. I ordered a Hacker A30 8XL Yesterday, and a Revco 16tooth pinion. I will let you know if I notice any power increase over the stock 890kv brushless. I am currently chopping the frame to fid my monster lipo inside....I will post some pics of my EP8 EX V2 shortly.

(Periodically, I also fly a DVD camcorder around too - awsome onboard video)

Cheers,

Hey woody , what was the modulus or mod. of the pinion you ordered ?
The Quick of Japan helis use 0.80 mod. pinions... any thing else will tear up the main gear!

Im not sure, I ordered it off of readyheli. It was for a 5mm shaft, but as far as moddus, im not sure. I ordered my other pinions from RC-expert, 19, 23, and 24tooth, and they work great. It's probably the wrong one. I wounder if I can run my 19 tooth, and run around 2800HS on my EX without tearing itself apart....

Damn, I checked Readyheli, and it's a module 0.7. Anybody know where I can order the module 0.8 pinions that I need? (Rc-expert takes for ever and a day to ship)

Cheers,

Harold at helicopterhobbies , or Ken(I think it is ammo on RR) from Radiocontroledsports, http://shop.radiocontrol-sports.com/
Are about the only places to get them in the 0.80 mod!

Thanks Jimbo, I have been in touch with Ammo, and he is going to set me up with some of the pinions that I need. I am thinking of running the hacker 30 8XL first on 5 cell, then on 6cell....(now that I have gobs of room to mount them... )

Cheers,

My A308XL (5cell)

Hey Jimbo, I mounted my A308XL last night. I don't yet have any smaller pinions other than my 19 tooth. I used that one, and took her out for a test flight. My Quick EP8EXV2 flys like my 4cell trex450SE ! Awsome power and headspeed. Punching out is scaryfast, and the motor does not appear to bog. I calculated my headspeed to be 2900...! Man, it's easy to get used to more power. I can't wait to take it to the park, and ring her out..... I have a feeling my flight-times are going to be quite a bit shorter, so maybe next I will try an 18, then 17tooth pinion, in the search for a little economy.... Perhaps running a 16tooth, and upgrading the lipo to 6 cell would be something to look forward to next year....

THanks again Jimbo, for you suggestion on motors.....

Ok, I flew it for a couple of days, now I want even more power.. Is this a sickness?

An AXI2826/12 perhaps, with a 26toother?

My Blades

Hi Jimbo, I am using MAH CF 425mm's. I don't have any kind of stretch kit, so I had to grind a couple of mm off my tail blades to prevent overlap. It fly's great...... check my gallery....

Thanks Jimbo, I'm glad you like it. I will have to take a video of it flying, and then post a link. I am using a second rate tail servo, and have ordered a futaba 9254, to pair up with my 401. That should give me better tail performance. I never knew how dirty the mancave is getting till I looked at my own pics. I will have to crack a frosty open, and contemplate a clean up......

Cheers,

Hey woody , if you are looking for some better landing gear(plastic not aluminum) the best I have found is the Kyosho Caliber .30 landing gear! You have to make some little brackets for it , but they are the best I have found!
