Just got my Maxi joker sorted and flying. reeeeeel smooth!!
I'm running it on A123 12s2p 4600mah packs that I made from DeWalt packs. I can charge it in 30mins on a home made charger! I'm quite happy with the performance and flight times considering it weighs 6.8kg with the Nikon DSLR. You have to keep your eye on the time though as the power drop off at the end is real quick!

From his graph, I think is 10.5 min to be safe, 11.5 is max.

love those electric ships, nice flight time for the A123 packs too. You should have a good time with that one.

The packs cost me just over £200 to make, I had to buy 3 x dewalt packs from over there in the states, It would be cheaper for you guys cos you'd save on the shipping. I only used 24 of the 30 cells to make the 12s2p, so for the next pack i only need 2 x dewalt packs

As you can see on the data log chart, my headspeed is about 1160rpm, and yes 11.5 mins is MAX, I'd fly to 10mins on a job to leave a safe margin for error.

Thanks Scott,

The esc is the Powerjazz, motor is actro 24-5 and I'm using the eagle tree optical sensor on the main gear.

What is the voltage of these cells. I thought the site mention on NiMh it need 30 to 32 cells? If that's the case with the battery, I am thinking of investing to get one of these heli. How many charge will these cell last?

Each cell is 3.6v maximum, 3.3v nominal, 2300mah, so I used 12 in series and another 12 in parallel. total pack voltage is 43.2v and 4600mah, as you can see on the graph you can safely use nearly 4500mah from the pack. the pack does not get even slightly warm!

oh, and you get over 1000 charge cycles and you can charge them as quick as 15 minutes (I read somewhere you can charge in 5minutes, not sure on the authenticity of that though) if you have a powerfull enough charger. my homemade charger will balance charge in 30mins from empty.
