i am needing a battery charger, and i have found one but the fellow said that it is for nicad batteries. the charger was made before nickel metal batteries came out. my question is would this charger also charge nickel metal batteries or should i just keep looking.

I would get a charger that will NimH batteries. They have a different charge pulse rate than Nicd batteries. There are a lot of different chargers out there that will do both type of batteries. I think you could easily get one from $20.00 and up. Of course a good charger will cost you a bit more. It just depends on what quality and what features you want. If you are going to get serious in this hobby I would recomend getting the best charger you can afford. Some of the better chargers will do Nicd, Nimh, and Lipo batteries. Good luck.

Triton Jr. or the Triton or even perhaps the Accucycle Elite. I would start there. All good chargers.....

Both triton chargers are DC only. I would recomend getting a power supply for them if you want to charge at home. Otherwise the Accucycle would be a better buy as it comes with a AC power supply...
