This Sturgeon was caught on the Black River at South Haven Michigan

last week.

It weighed out at over 1,000 lbs and measured out at 11'1". It was

56" around the girth and took over 6 and a half hours

and 4 dozen beers for the 4 guys taking turns reeling.

.

You don't stop laughing because you grow old, you grow old because you stopped laughing.

Kind of a shame. Taking something like that out of nature.

I hope they didn't eat it or move it. I bet that fish is really old, maybe 100 - 150 years old at least. Something like that should be kept in nature as long as possible. (even though it could feed 50 people lol)

This was not caught last week, I saw this picture on the net over 6 months ago. I do not believe the location mentioned was the same either.

Kona, when Hawaii it is hard "pardon pun" to think of fishing while on beach.

CHRIST !!!!!! how huge was it BEFORE it's 6 1/2 hour workout?

Does anyone else think that a fish probably tastes different if it's had a fight for survival?(and lost! )
Any scuba-diving spear-fishermen,or "trout-ticklers" care to enlighten us?

uhh no... there are laws against taking sturgeon over a certain size even out of the water... notice how they're lifting it out of the water, as opposed to pulling it onto the boat, taking the picture, and then throwing it back in.. this thing was battling it out for hours... it's exhausted from the ordeal, and would have likely needed some rest before swimming away at its own accord...
