Hello

I have a new Trex 450 which has totally restored my elecric heli aspirations. I love the power to weight ratio and have suprised myself with some of the new manouvers I am prepared to try!
In contrast I now realize how sad and lifeless my Logo 10 is.
It is heavy and soggy in comparison.
However, I am determined to get the L10 to perform.
I have the old c50 13L, opto 77 esc combination with 4s TP 3850.
I have tried the 13 and 14 tooth pinions and the 14t just makes the motor run hot with little performance gain.
I guess I have to ditch the 4s and go to 5/6s?
What would be a good motor to switch in?
I want to go to a L600 next year so could I go 5 s now and then 2x5s for the L600? It would be nice to use the old esc if possible.
Any thoughts?

Thanks

The best setup for the money is a Z30A-800 motor ($105) and a 10s1p a123 battery (36v dewalt pack for $100 on ebay). This will give you a setup that will have 5-7 min. duration and you can gear it for what ever head speed you want from mild to wild.

Do a search for A123 battery's if your not familiar with them, they are VERY safe, have a very very long cycle life span. They weigh more than lipos but well worth it unless your after the best power to wait ratio.

If you want to stay with lipos then you 5s is the highest you can go with that motor (if my memory is correct).

Hope that helps.

Another Option

I run a logo 10 on 5s 3700mah packs and have a stock Align 75a esc with a zpower/century 600 plus motor with a 21t pinion...(2000RPMS)

it makes great power ...I use it as a practice machine and fly woodies on it...I can do everything on this machine including tic tocs, piro flips and funnels etc...all with 15$ Gaui hurricane woodies on it...so crashing it is SUPER cheap...

Just another option for you...

Here's a couple pics of my logo 10 practice machine..

are you running a mod.5 or .7 gears?
i just tested one of my LOGO 10's today with the Z30 motor, 21t.pinion 6cell with the stock 200t. main and managed to strip two gears in less then a minute of test flying the heli on two attempts.

Hello

6s is the way to go. Im using a C50-15XL in mine on 6s Evo 25 3.7ah packs and my Logo 10 flybarless(check gallery) is way more powerful than any 50 you can compare it too...its stupid powerful for 6 straight mins.

I think you can get similar power with your motor and a small pinion...youll get that motor RPM up really high and aim for a 2000-2100 HS; your heli should scream. If not just get a decent Z motor for 6s and youll be good.

BTW im using .5 mod gears with 500mm blades

My Logo 10

I am using a stock 200t main gear and .5mod setup..

I never have issues with the gears stripping out...the mesh needs to be set perfectly though...

My last two flights with my Logo 10 have stripped the gear during inverted manoeuvres. The first was was not so bad and I almost managed a controlled auto. The second one, well, it's time for a new kit. I never had trouble while I was running +/- 11 degrees, now that I bumped it up to +/- 13 I've got problems.

Working fine now

I took my last 200t from my second logo with the 5cell set up and installed it in the logo with the Z30 21t. 6cell set up,
installed a 5mm collar on the motor shaft before the pinion to prevent the rotor from moving and maintain the right mesh with thw main gear and a little less free play and it worked great, two 5min. Flights and the main gear looking good.

Well i found the mesh has to be very very tight
Its totaslly different then any other maingear i set the mesh lately
usually you dont want it too close and you always need a little play beetween pinion and maingear
This is different on a logo 10 i feel
Push it hard against the maingear and your done...easy peasy
The smoothest quietest gear i have had up to now ...

It cannnot be to tight(almost) and really if you think less about it then your doing it right
if you trying to set it up like any other heli then your doing it worng and most likely you will stip the gear as you are thinking to leave a bit of play
but with the .5 mod gear you cant !

Thats my findings on logo 0.5 mod gear ...
