As an Officer in my local VFW, I received a package yesterday and opened it for our monthly meeting.

Inside I found this certificate,

and an American Flag.

Most of you may not recognize the name, but one of the Pilots, CW3 Clark Driggs, is one of our own R/C Helicopter buddies, and goes by invrtd here on the forums.

Clark is now home, safely, with his family and friends.

I would like to show my appreciation for the Flag and Certificate with this public "Thank You", for you, your Crew and Unit, and all The United States Military.

Please take a moment, read the Certificate, and think about what it means to a bunch of "Old Soldiers" who wish they could be there with them in this fight against Terrorism.

Good post Chris.

Everyone should take a moment to pause and think about the freedoms that they enjoy at such a high price. We just had two of our guys return home, one was injured in a road side bomb and three of his fellow soldiers were killed during that bombing. He is a lucky man.

I am proud to be one of the many soldiers that have served this country defending it's freedom. "HOOAH"

Hey Chris - Today (9-11-2007) more than ever we say "Thank You" knowing it is not enough for all the hardships every military person must bear in all times of war. Speaking as a "very" old Navy guy who weathered Viet Nam I am so grateful for all that is done on a daily basis to protect my and my families freedom.

Happy to hear your friend is back and I am sure the flag will be flown at the VFW on special occasions to mark his safe return and the service of all others.

It's great to be home! Thanks for all the support and kind words!
Can't wait to get my RC heli's in the air. Since I had been flying MEDEVAC for the last year, I havn't done much RC flying. Like to do some 3D from time to time. Can't do that in a Real Black Hawk.

Clark,

Welcome home, and thanks for your service.

If you want a place to fly, you're welcome in Tampa. I don't know where exactly you are in Central FL, but it can't be far

Maybe see you in JAX?

Cheers,

Erich

Clark,

I am glad you made it home. Fly the hell out of your Milli's and I'll catch up with you when I get out of Diwo. We are holding down the fort and things are running smooth. We won't let you down.

Just to give some history of why Chris's VFW post received a flag: His VFW post pooled up some fund to get me a small e-heli to have to fly over in the Iraq. However, I thought it would be a better idea if they purchased some pda navigation software for my Forward Support Medical Team. We had a couple of dozen folks on my team and a handfull of us used hand held gps's for back up navigagtion. The software was well over $300 and they sent it without batting an eye. When I departed FOB Echo I passed the software to the incoming unit from the Indiana National Guard. My team was out of Florida. Please thank your citizen soldiers when you see them. They are taking the brunt of the deployments now a days. The active component can not sustain the deployment schedules.

Thanks again to all who are supporting our troops!

Also,

Lou or THX1138 is now at the FOB I was at. It was funny when Lou showed up to FOB Echo. I had never met Lou in person but noticed he had an RC heli mag and an RC heli screen saver and we started talking. Turns out I had purchase some stuff from Lou on RR a few years back. What are the odds we would meet in Iraq on a small FOB.

Thanks for getting me out of Iraq Lou. If it wasn't for other citizen soldiers like Lou, I would have been stuck.

Thanks to all,

Clark

My brother in-law will soon depart to do his duty. He Leaves shortly after christmas, and will be gone 1 to 2 years. The 2 of us never did and most likely never will see eye to eye, But I do have a good deal of respect for what he does, as well as all of the other men and women in the armed forces.

The world is yours!
