Ive had this rapter50 a long time its a 30 conversion to a v2-50.
the engine is an os50 not the hyper, with the first mussel pipe.

when i do tight funnels the engine bogs and i assume thats when the glow coils bend. Note im running a Throttle Jockey REV MAX limiter.

the motor also fluds quickly when try to start. Have used wildcat 15% for years and the problem is getting worse. fuel is not old.

am i too rich or too lean or is it the pipe? Note can fly for 8 min with probably 2 min left in tank.

Well if it were mine I would change out all of the fuel lines including the clunks. Then clean out the carb and needles. Reset the needles to factory settings and replace the glow plug. 15% fuel is not going to get you the best power and if the engine is "tired" 30% would help in the power department. Glow plugs usually go bad due to a lean run or just being old. I would try an Enya 3 or OS 8 plug.

sounds like a clunk line issue.

The coil is distorting because the motor is leaning out too much.

Put a perry pump on it, and you'll get consistent fuel pressure even in hi-G manuvers.

Believer in Weston motors!

The coil is probably bending from trying to start when the engine floods. Try leaning the low some and open the high, also pitch management may not be perfect hence the bogging.

i remember my shuttle with an os32 dieing when the tank got below half full. it turned out to be the needle valve rubber o ring. it would go lean and die. I rebuilt my rapter 70 carb and will do the same with my 50. this should fix the problems.

Update and fixes:
replacing the o-rings in the carb on my os70 fixed the problem of the engine cutting out at 1/2 to 1/4 of a tank of fuel left.

Was not as lucky with the os50sxh (pre-hyper). when i changed the pipe from a cym1 to a cym5 noticed some scraping on the piston (not a good sign). The pipe let me start up easily unlike the first pipe that let all the excess oil slide back down and into the engine. the bad thing was now as soon as the heli got up into a hover the engine died quickly like the fuel tank was in a vacuum. Rebuild time!!!
after the rebuild, the engine has much moor power with the m5 pipe even after 4 tanks running rich, it just kicked in with gobs of power and its still rich and will have more power when fully broken in. now ill know what to look for next time. Hope this helps someone!

Much power and happy landings!
