According to the instructions which may or may not mean anything, the input voltage is 7.4 and the output voltage is 5.8V,so where do you get that you are running servo's on 7.4 volts.
I have been running this system on my Nitro with 8717 servo's with no issues.
For me it doesn't make sense as to one would be thinking that you are running on 7.4 volt.

I wonder why JR doesn't state that - it's got to be the biggest feature of those servos! completely eliminate the regulator, removing a big point of failure in the electronics.

If you not planning running them off 2s lipo, it depends on the size of the heli.
I would NOT run them off the regulator in a .90 since it would probably say poff and give up smoke.
Stall amp draw on those servo's are something like 3.5amp, PER SERVO.

I use them in my .90 ship with Arizona regulators and 5200 mah batteries.

My receiver and cyclic servos are on 7.4, the rest of the heli is running on regulator. The reciver is straight of battery.
