Hello LOGO 500 pilots:

Thank you for your support of Mikado Helicopters. This is in response to several threads on LOGO 500 on this forum. We’ve become aware of difficulties setting up the Herring Bone gears especially on High Power systems. To aid in achieving the correct gear mesh of the Herring Bone pinion we are including the aluminium motor plate as the standard in the LOGO 500 3D kit.

For those of you who have already purchased a LOGO 500 3D, please contact Aero-Model, Inc. ( 480) 726-7519 and they will supply it to you at no cost. These aluminium motor mounts are available for immediate shipment from Aero-Model in Tempe, Az.

The issue with stripping gears arises typically with outrunner type motors. Under high torque they are not as stiff as other motors and their axes can twist, which has a negative effect on the gear mesh.
We’re not guessing this. Rather we performed a study on our gear test stand to determine the cause for the gears stripping. It showed clearly that the motor shaft is sliding/twisting with outrunner type designs. The aluminium motor plate helps avoiding this to some degree. In addition it makes the correct adjustment of the Herring Bone gears more precise.

For extreme 3D flying (+2000 watts), the aluminium motor plate must be used with the Mod. .7 gear. This will double the power transmission capacity of the Herring Bone gear train. We have thus decided to include both main gears in the LOGO 500 3D kit from now on, i.e. Mod. .5 and Mod. .7 - so it will be the customer’s decision which one he wants to use depending on gearing and motor choice.

The Logo 500/600 itself is engineered for high power. Strictly speaking, it’s the motor design that can be cause for concern, and not the Heli. Combining the properties of the aluminium motor mount and the Mod. 7 gear, Very Hard 3D flying is no problem. Please also take care to set the gear mesh correctly.

If you compare the new LOGO generation to other electric helis in the market, you will see that it is clearly a superior helicopter in many ways. Please understand that it is difficult to cover all eventualities in advance with a truly innovative product.

Thank You for your continued support of the Mikado line of model helicopters.

Best regards
Ralf

Does this include UK customers?

... but I did buy a 3rd party one - would be nice to see some main gears in the UK though, 3 weeks my 500 3d has been grounded waiting for one.

I hate this model so much, makes me feel sick every time I look at it, the few times it did fly, it was with no doubt the best I've ever flown - but having a model that keeps failing and then not being able to get the parts I need to get it flying agan is extremely frustrating - would love to get shot of it but it seems most over here are wise to them and are steering well clear.

You're wrong. We're waiting for the 500 owners to iron out the teething problems while we wait for our 600s.

You're brave, Yes, I am a very disgurntled customer but I would advise against buying a 500 or 600 until Mikado sort out the distribution in the UK, I have huge respect for the main reseller and have used them for years but they are really struggling to get parts in - I've also tried emails and even writing to Mikado about my problems, before I started on here, but they don't seem to bother about the UK market at all .

To Mikado,
Does this mean that UK customers can claim our metal motor mount from one of the two resellers in the UK...namely Revolution Models and FlighTech??

Guys I would contact your supplier there in UK ie: Revolution, Flighttech etc whoe ever and have them do that work for you and get you sorted. I suspect Ralph may not come back to this specific board for sometime.

stock of mod.7 153T main gears

Raydee, that is a easy one. I sent you pm but for anyone else looking for a mod.7 gear in the future, here are a few options.

Pick a vendor closest to where you live and you are golden,,,

Here are some vendors that have it "in stock". This is the mod.7 maingear

http://www.rcflightstore.com/produc...products_id=857

http://www.espritmodel.com/index.as...el=&strCompare=

http://www.fxaeromodels.com/product...roducts_id=4321

http://www.modefosheli.com/inc/sdetail/88134

http://www.revolutionmodels.co.uk/c...tml#a2484#a2484

I am sure there are more, but these are a few I found in only minutes, be well.

Shawn

Ahhhh ok. That could be abit more tough as I am sure many got swallowed in the heat of the mod.7 gear announcement. Make some calls or emails, you'll find one or get a lead on for one to come soon I am certain.

I got in touch with Aero-model today and found out my Heli did not come 2nd day . I also found out that if you have an older kit, you will be shipped the metal motor mount but NOT the .7 mod gears for free. The NEW kits will include the .5 and .7 mod gears but only in the new kits. So if you want both gears, wait for the new kits or they are about $40 for the .7mod pinion and gear......Ron
