spectrum ar 9000 and cyclic servos jr 8717's all plug right into the 2s pack the gv-1 and 601 are regulated at 5.7 and the 9256 is also stepped down to 5.1. using the align 2 in 1 i like the glow stuff it works and i am on spectrum so i don't think there should be issues. it's kinda tricky to hook up will post some pics later. i am only using the white signal wire from all the plugs going into the recv from the 601 and gv-1

just started running this system but according to Alan you get 4-5 flights on a 4000 mah pack lipo. with a 2000 pack i would say 2 flights but again if you fly around you get more flights than if you were to do cracking and pumping manuevers. fastest fillup was 6 sec.

Yup - these servos are hungry. Play it safe. I get 6 - 7 flights on a FP 4350 Evo pack (7 was really really pushing it) before hitting the 80% mark - used to get almost double that with 9451's.

Have 80+ flights on mine and they've been working great - hands down the most impressive servos I've flown to date.

What is the easiest way to run 8vs to the servos and still step it down for the governor and gyro. I have been trying to think of a clean way to do it, can you post some pics of your setup?

Thanks,
Paul

Higher voltage = more amps = less flight time on same MAH battery.

Actually, that formula is wrong.

Electric's need watts.

Volt * Amps = Watts, so if you raise the volt, amps is lower to keep the same watts.

The servo's might generate more heat from the 8v though, with heat amp draw raises (internal resistance) so thats probably why you might see less flight-time off 8v instead of 6v.

This since we are not talking alot heat generated in the regulator ,if there was alot of heat = powerloss it would benefit greatly from running of 8v.

So perhaps true for the 8717, might not be true at all in the future if they come out with servo's that keep cool at 8v.

Very interesting stuff here. I am also curious as to how the DS8717 are going to hold up.

Align doesn't have a very good track record with these and other electronics. Did you silicone the power wires coming off the board? They are known to break loose in flight.

How well do the 8717 servo centers?
Do you get/feel any interactions?

Can the Futaba G3 handle 7,4-8V?

That's kind of what I thought. More factors than that I suppose. servo heat may cause high current drain.

Good, like all metal gear servo you get a little slop after a few flights, not much though.
None whatsoever, then again, Im running 14MZ and cyclocks so interaction is nothing I cant handle.

Dont think its gonna like 8v on a G3, think its only spektrum and XPS so far, but I could be wrong.
