Are you naive or just stupid? Saddam started the war, The UN stabbed us in the back, and then we put our foot down. There are bad people in this world if you care to look outside the US instead of throwing your self hating hissy fits. If Saddam didn't have WMD then all he had to do is let the inspectors in and abide by the sanctions. Why did he not? Because France, Russia, and Germany sold out for lucrative oil contracts and told Saddam they could keep us from going to war. So he made all the threats and taunts he wanted and since we knew he had and used WMD in the past and he blocked every effort to determine if he would use them in the future then yes we decided it was in our best interest to shove a boot up his ass. Our multi-million dollar hippie circle known as the UN failed to do anything about the threat because they were bought off. If your hippie circles would do their job then we wouldn't need to go to war. But they easily sell out.

And what are you going to say when gas prices hit $5 a gallon? And the economy tanks?
Gas IS gonna hit $5.00/gallon. In fact it's already passed that in much of the world. When we reach (and pass) the Hubbert Peak for oil, supply will begin to diminish as demand continues to grow. At this point the price of oil will begin to grow like you've never seen before. Because we have an energy based economy, it WILL tank. The best bet to minimize this inevitablility is to do just the opposite of what Bush is doing... we have to get serious about alternative fuels. The further we are down that road when the crunch hits, the better.

just sit back and watch havoc. thankfully there's no way that you'll ever win public office. Vote like you usually do...whatever. I for one will probably end up voting republican if Ron Paul gets the nomination, he's true libratarian running under the republican guise.

Good point spork

C'mon, Havoc. It's already been stated that Saddam had NO WMD's. Yeah, sure he was planning on building them, no doubt.

And yes, we DID start the war. Saddam started the conflict, but we invaded and officially started the war. At that time, it seemed (to many) that diplomacy had failed. The media did a great job of convincing me of that.

And, for the record I agree with you about the hippie circle. It should actually be effective in ending such conflicts. No real power any more, but it shouldn't be ignored. It should be improved.

There are many countries that are vying for power in the world. Look at North Korea. They developed nukes against the wishes of most of the rest of the world. They did this to get recognition in the world as a powerful independent nation, deserving of world's attention and respect.

The system in the world is set up in such a way that, whoever has the most nukes is the most powerful and respected (to many). This is a lesson that was taught to the world by the US and Soviet Union during the cold war. Many countries witnessed the events and thought "If we had nuclear weapons, we could be a world contender as well."

That's why certain countries feel compelled to put on "displays of military power" from time to time.

Yes Saddam was a terrible man, but there are many terrible men in the world. Do we attack them all? where does it stop?

For the record, I'm not a hippie who's opposed to using force when necessary. I just prefer to be as informed as possible when making a move, not misinformed the way we all were. Yes, water under the bridge, but now we need to figure out how to extract ourselves from this big mess. It's going to be difficult. I know there's no easy solution.

I hope for the safe and soon return of our precious Men & Women who are over there fighting for us every day so that we can write our stupid opinions on the forums like this one.
(wow, that was a serious run-on)

I'm going to go drink some herbal tea now and do a little Tai Chi

Oh I forgot we didn't consult Ms. Cleo before going in. You don't need to wait to be shot before you shoot and finding out later you were threatened with a toy gun doesn't matter.

The FBI targeted mobsters with the "roving bug" and this is a conservative conspiracy? The reason they can do this is some phones are actually ON even when you hit "off". That means you need to remove the battery to really turn them off. If you think that's bad, go to England where they have a cameras on nearly every inch. Oh but liberals think we should be more like Europe. So is the cell phone trick conservative because it happened while a republican was president. I'd bet if Nanci pelosi was president you would tape her picture to your bedroom ceiling upon hearing this. But the real winner in this story is the tin foil hat club who think their dungeon and dragons meeting is so interesting that the government is all over it.

See what I mean, it's like dealing with four year olds.

If you can't see that the things your fuhrer has done (no warrant needed to open your mail, read your email, listen to your phone conversations, etc., etc.,) has limited the freedoms of every single American citizen then you fit in with what the rest of the country thinks about the stereotypical "Kentuckian" (or whatever you call yourselves)

Not too bright, but full of opinions...

Ohhh the "liberal-elitist" shows his true colors. Nothing but venom and frothing at the mouth. You can't make an argument but will stubbornly claim to be smarter anyway.
