Just thought I'd let you guys know I've just got hold of 2 alloy fans for my Vibe and Vigor CS. I got the guys at Diamond Helicentre to produce them for me. I had changed the OE plastic fans six times trying to cure vibration issues. These puppies are the dogs.
I paid £100 for the 2 including governor magnets and clear anodising. They said they would add them to their standard parts and retail for about £35 including UK VAT.
Diamond Helicentre is at http://www.diamondheli.com . Very helpful and great guys to deal with.

Chris.

Just been asked to join this post. Yes the fan is drilled for governor magnets on the back side. There are 2 holes 4mm diameter and 2mm deep on a 48mm p.c. which will allow you to balance the fan accurately. If you don't need the holes the existing balance is excellent. Picture attached.

You guys know that with a little modification to the design this product could translate almost directly over to the Synergy? This is not a Synergy plug, but rather a plug that you actually have 2 products if you look at it. Jason copied the Vibe fan for the Synergy, and I am sure the Synergy guys would love an aluminum fan as well. Just a thought.

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

When I was asked to produce an alloy fan for the Vibe, I just copied the plastic version almost exactly except for reducing the number of blades by one. I have designed numerous fans for many applications and fans with a prime number of blades run smoother and quieter. I could have improved the performance but to be honest that's not what I set out to do. If the fan is almost identical to the Synergy then producing one for this bird is a piece of cake.

Fan

Dear Chris,

I don´t want to be a pain in the a...
Your fan looks perfect.
Now you have a vibration problem and i asked myself, is the
fan responsible for the vibration or the center part?.

Now the centre part of the fan has to be perfect centred.
And 90% of all the fans run-out problem lies here!
Because if this part is not automatically the fan it self wouldn´t
be olso.
And a alloy fan can make it even worse.

Frans,

I own 4 JR helis, 3 Vigor CS and 1 Vibe . They all have the standard plastic fan fitted on the allow hub. Some of the fans are worse than others and all have a slight wobble. On 2 of my ships the vibration was extreme, these had governor magnets fitted and I could not get the vibration sorted. I have looked for months to find an alloy fan and nobody makes them. I rang diamond helicenter and he offered to produce a one off if I required. After a quick visit, they are 3 miles away, I was so impressed with what they do I ordered 2 fans since the extra money was only small.Dave Dunphy kept the original fan and hub and made the alloy replacements to fit. 4 days later he called me and I had 2 fantastic looking fans, 1 was even fitted to the hub with magnets and balanced, now thats service. I could clock the fan outside to within 0.0005" with my mercer guage. Both helis fly fantastic now with no vibration, and the only thing I would prefer is a clear shroud so you can see the fan.

Chris,

I am glad your problem is solved.

This is what i normaly do,
1- I put de hub and fan on a Top-Flite balancer(http://www.top-flite.com/accys/topq5700.html) and use the magnet for balancing.
Sometimes i remove material or use a pin for fine balancing.

2- The hole off the upper taper collet can be to wide, and when you
tighten de bolt you press it to one side.
So i remove the conrod from the crank so it rotate free.
Than i put a little bit off epoxy on the thread (where the collet
will be) i thighten it up softly and check it for run-out.
When it is oke i let the epoxy dry and after this i tighten it up
strong.

The wobble in the plastic can still cause some vibrations and a
alloy fan is than the way to go.

Frans.

Scotty,

I'm really pleasured your happy with the fan . I'm just sorry they're so expensive with the exchange rate at the moment . Did it all fit sweetly without any fettling, because the design was produced off an old fan and hub.!
Thanks once again for your custom, our satisfied customers make it all worth while.
