5 months ago Align got wind of this issue... and now somebody may lose a finger over it?? Seems that Align should have investigated this issue sooner before somebody got hurt...

But Honey, I can't live with just stock.....

Ok....I am rethinking this design problem in the blades. If it has happened 5 mo ago and none since 2 weeks ago, they may be poorly designed. If this is a factory issue it may affect many blade manufacture's. This is a very big and VERY dangerous problem that can hurt the entire Blade industry. I understand that many blade manufactor's use the same factory in China to build thier blades.

Ozydego and I have sent Align e-mails yesterday to request immediate action with regard to recalling these blades until we fine out what is going on at the factory. They must act fast! How can we fly any new blades with confidence knowing they are likely to kill someone. I am begining to regret giving Align this much time to react to this problem. I regret not posting this issue sooner. I thought This was the only time this had ever happened and it was an isolated blade that got through the screening process.

I like Align. I have been flying a 600E for about a year and love it. It has issues like everything else, but man, does it fly well. I would like to try the 600N, but I think I will wait until they make it more durable. I have always believed that Align responds quickly to improve thier design's of the 450, 600 and other products. I am counting on Align to respond just as quickly to this very dangerous issue as well. I don't want to hurt Align due to this, but I feel responsible not saying something sooner.

I appoligize to all of you.

I have sent eMails as well. Assurance RC has done well by me in the past with regard to replacing defective parts - however, this time I asked for a refund. I'm guessing that's going to be a different story. I explained that It would no longer be prudent of me to continue using them given the potential safety risk.

eMails were sent to Assurance RC and HeliProz, both USA distributors for Align. I'll let you know what happens.

I had a set of the A blades sling a weight some time ago...rained e- 600 parts for quite a while...I like the way the Align blades fly, but went back to TT 600 for the time being...
I've had no luck being able to find TT blades - all of my sources have been out of stock for months. I have a set of TT 600s that the weight came loose on (I can hear it rattling around). Contacted Ace customer service, no response.

Hello all

Me and the rest of the pilots that I have been flying with have decided not to fly these blades anymore till the issue is sorted out. We had no idea that there had been others who have had the same problems that we have had. With the post that have been made hear it seems that there is a definite issue with the align blades. I just hope that it is taken care of before someone else is hurt of worse. Thank you all for the post and I will keep you all informed of any info I receive about the issue.

Kevin

Takeoff's are optional, but landing's are mandatory!!!!

Reply in from HeliProz - they claim they cannot process the return because they do not buy or sell those blades from Align. I'll buy that I guess. Still waiting on Assurance RC.

Failing Align 600 Carbon blades

We have had 2 sets of these blades trowing weights off in flight at our local field.

Case 1:
A raptor 50 was hovering when the carbon tail boom suddenly broke of. Bent the spindle and main rotor mast, cracked frames. Having no clue to what the H$$# happened the rappy was fixed..

Blades inspected. Saw a small hairline crack at the edge, thought nothing of it. (desperate at flying) Absolutely no signs to the blades of having touched the ground.
The heli shook violently trying to spin up the rotor. Found weight to be "missing" from one of the blades.
Blades lasted 2-3 min. of hovering at 1650 rpm.

Case 2:
A Trex 600N having 8-10 flights at 1900+ rpm. Suddenly the T-Rex threw the canopy, header tank and shook like crazy. Autoed the heli shaving tail-rotors a bit. On inspection the blades had de-laminated without signs of any other damage. Blade holders now had a lot of play against the bearings. What happend?? Blades put in the bin.

Me:
Retired my Align 600 Carbons after 3 flights. Mounted some V-Blades(2) for my peace of mind on my Trex 600N.

Aftermath: Align was interested in inspecting the blades of the first case. But no promise of replacement of the blades so far.

Scary shi/T!! Think of having the lead weight implanted in your brain?!

Same as You bliatun

This is what happened to me small hairline crack put blades on balancer and it was way out by a couple of oz. My machine shook so bad and vicously the canopy shook off in the air and bent the main shaft. Machine landed flat. Upon inspection the blades appeared to be fine. I thought blades were not damaged til I put them on a balancer. These blades had 4 flights on them. These blades fly great but I am not taking a chance, a good friend just lost his finger need I say any more!!!! I know atleast 4 locals that took these blades off and local hobby store took them off the shelf!

This was not good especially that it happened infront of atleast 20 people. It could have been any of them. This shook up everyone that was there. I know everything we do there are risk.

The good friend that lost his finger is doing ok he is very upset which who couldn't blame him. He is in good spirits and he has a bunch of us that really care and pulling for him.

This is definitely a problem that needs to be addressed and until some sort of action is taken, I do not think anyone else should fly the Align A CF blades. I think the subject line of this thread should be changed to Blades Safety Warning!!, and stickied at the top of this forum.

But Honey, I can't live with just stock.....

Talk to align and see what they will do, if you do use them, it is at your own risk and I highly advise that you don't

I feel worse about my situation as I did not know about the problem beforehand, a problem that apparently Align knew about months ago. I was not able to know they were defective before I had an accident. At least if yours are defective, now you know before they tear your heli to pieces, or hit someone with the shrapnel.

But Honey, I can't live with just stock.....

I am safe because I fly only Radix….

But guys I recommend not to use them until Align investigate the unsafe or the safe batch….

This easily can kill you…. Seriously that weight at that speed is like a bullet……

Can some one calculate the speed of that bullet going out of that blade?

I Hope no one result injured...
