Anyone besides me having issues with their tail gears wearing out fast. Ive had my synergy for about 2 months now and I just ordered my 3rd set. Im averaging about 2 gallons of fuel before I have to replace my gears. I running a gy 611 set at about 34 on the gain in f3C mode on a set of CY 105 tail blades. When I set the gear mesh I make sure theirs no back lash but also making sure its not notchy. It will be smooth as butter. I just dont understand why my gears are wearing this fast. My second set of gears went out while flying I managed to get down with no damage except for all teeth were missing on my tail gears. Any ideas guys.

Thanks Jay

In my experience, the tail gears have been very rugged. Obviously my experiences have been quite different from yours.

Are you hard on the tail? i.e. fast starting and stopping pirouettes, or reversing the rudder direction real quickly? Is it possible you're dragging the tail in the dirt?

As you've probably read [here] you should dial in some delay in both directions. This will reduce stress on the gears themselves.

You might also try using 95mm tail blades. They are less likely to touch the ground, and they put less stress on the tail hub.

It is hard to say with out looking at it in person. bring it on up to CCRC http://www.ccrc.info and we shall take a look at it for you we are out there every weekend unless there is a fun fly going on.

gears

I have over 15 gallons on the set that I have in my machine. One thing you didn't mention is setting your delay on your 611. Check that...

Are you making sure that the rear coupler is snug up against the
bearing race? If you don't do this and do alot of fast prios, the centrifugal force slings your TT outward and the gears bear the brunt of the extra forces.

I pretty sure i havent gottin the tail into the ground. Im doing piroflips etc. I was thinking of coming to ccrc for the fly in. Ive tryed to get hold of botos on his cell but no answer im sure hes been busy thou. I really dont want to change tail blades because they are brand new.
I havent done anything with the delay yet I guess that would be my next goal. thanks the input guys I do love my synergy flys alot smoother than my stratus.

Whats up j, I had the same exact problem, I'd have too look at it to be 100% certain but, if you assembled the tail box/front trans right, all you have to do is two things and you should be fine.

just call me I can talk you thru it.

or come up to the feild like nicky said
