Just got word from Helidirect that the new megapower packs use the same plug as eflite charger but wires are all reversed so it will fit but will kill lipo if you try to charge as is. I assume all three reds are positive, black negative and if you look on the balance end of eflite charger it shows the diagram where positive and negative leads go.

Either MegaPower VERY recently changed the plug connections, or HeliDirect doesn't know what they're taking about. I have a recently purchased MegaPower pack, an Eflite 800mAh lipo, and the eFlite charger in front of me right now and the wiring of the balance plug is exactly the same on all of them, meaning the eFlite charger will work with both batteries.

I can't see why MegaPower would wire the connectors any differently as many of the balancers out there use this style plug and changing the layout/polarity of the wires in the plug would potentially cause big problems plugging the packs into the balancer as well.

More likely that charging the MegaPower pack with the eFlite charger will kill the charger in fairly short order from the extra load placed on it, or H-D wants to sell you a new charger to go with the battery, which really isn't a bad idea...

rccarguy settle down a bit it'll be ok I understand helidirect. I'm sure they know what they are talking about as they have them in front of them also. And they sent the following message. This will explain what you are missing. So in short be careful there is a switchover point in there somewhere which pack you will get.
Message:

Is MP1350153 mega power lipo pack compatible with the stock E-Flite balance charger?
Yes, the type of plug is the same, but our new version of MP have now share the same polarity with other type of battery ex: Align. So in order for it to work with the Eflite, the 4 wire must be reverse. This mean you have to flip the plug upside down. This is not hard to do, take about 5 mins. If you wish to purchase the battery, I can give you more detail on how to get it done.

Still don't understand, I have an Align 2100mAH pack here as well, the balance connector and the way it's wired is exactly the same as the other two.

Bottom line, there is a standard for wiring the polarity of the same type of balance connectors so they will work with all devices that accept these types of connectors, all the packs I have (well over a dozen) with this style connection have the same wiring polarity. Changing the standard wiring in any way is asking to have a pack ignite when it's plugged into a balancer or charger, not something that a manufacturer would risk I think.

I believe most chargers will not even begin to charge if there is a polairty problem.

Just get a volt meter and buzz the thing out against one you no works in the charger you have.

Hi Tony,

Yes, that should work, all you got to do is make 1234 to 4321.

well I was mislead by helidirect tech support at least on this pack. Pin1,2,3 all red 4 black just like my eflite charger. I guess it would still be a good idea to check before you charge though.
