Hello, I been flying my 600 for a couple of weeks now and picked up another Align 18c 4400mah Lipo yesterday from Hobby Town and I only get 1-1/2min flight before it's done. I balanced it and cycled it before using it. I noticed it only had 17volts when I first hooked it up to charge it.
1.Any problems with these batteries?
2.Why is the 4200mah 16c more expensive (199.99) then the 4400mah 18c(179.99)
Thanks for any info in advanced.

i dont like the 4400's. Mine puffed on me while my 4200 is still running pretty well. The 4400 started to puff on maybe the 7th flight and by the 9th, it was done... and bad news is that I heard alot of similiar stories with the 4400's. If you just got it, then maybe contact Align quickly. I have heard that sometimes they do try to help you out as long as u can show that u just bought the battery and its still under 90 days or something

yea.. i know on paper it seems like the 4400 18c is better than a 16c 4200 but in my opinion i'd rather have the 4200. I mean, the 4400 offered the same performance as the 4200 but my 4200 is still alive lol. But, if u really want a good battery , id go with thunder power or flight power batteries because they are MUCH better.

Discontinued

Looks like Align has discontinued the 4400. There replacing my battery with a TP 4200. I just got off the phone with Frank at Asurance RC (Align dis.)and he confirmed that they do not make the 4400 anymore. I wish I would have posted a ? before I wasted $400 on these batterys. I'll stick with TP lipos or maybe see about those A123 Li-ons. Thanks again magicmalik

I was told that the 4200 was a rebranded TP 4200 but the 4400 were an Align lipo.

As for recommendations on another pack, I'd recommend Air Thunder if you're cost conscious and are looking for good performance. I have an AT, FP and TP and the AT is on par performance wise with the others except that this lipo is much more resilient and is meant to resist puffing and over-discharging.

That explains why Align is replacing it with a Thunder Power 4200 since there the same and why they discontinued the 4400. I never used a AT lipo before but I will give them a try as soon as I re-cover from this.

i heard that the AT packs seemed good but i have heard stories that after like 20 cycles they start to get bad. I dont know for sure tho because i dont have any personal experience with them but I have heard this from a few people. I do like the Flight Power and thunder power 4900-5000 packs. They have great performance.. i think i prefer the Flight Power slightly more tho.

You might want to check the battery threads. These Air Thunder packs have been getting a lot of abuse. One guy has been discharging them until they stop flying, sometimes discharging them to ZERO volts and the resurrecting them. The same pack has been abused for about 100 cycles or more and is still only now starting to show signs of age. If it can withstand that abuse at 100 cycles, what more when you are taking care of it like the Flightpower or Thunder power batteries.

I have an at battery and I can tell you that that 20 cycle story is completely bogus. these are GREAT batteries!

if you buy batteries for your 600 and you use 6S then only the high end lipos will last .you need FP or TP 6s 5000.

Align 16C cells are from Korea, but 18C cells are from China.
The more cells you make combination the more unbalance problem you will encounter.
You could try AirThunder battery 6S 5000mAh which will give you more play time 30-40% than FP and TP.

I have been using tp batteries and loved them, I tried a at battery and now I will most likley only use them. they can be draind much more run very cool and I am not easy on my packs pulling 2050mah out of a 2200 pack in 5 min or so consistantly

Align USA poor

I felt I should share my dealings with Align USA (AssuranceRC). I resently purchased a Align 4400 lipo 22.2v from Hobby Town for my REX 600. When I returned home to balance the new lipo it had only 17volts which is to low for a 22.2 battery. I called Hobby Town and returned the battery for there examination to make sure I didn't damage it on the drive home. They had concluded that the battery was in fact bad and did not hold a charge. They contacted Align and Frank told them that the consumer (me) needed to return the battery with proof of purchase and they would replace it with a Thunder Power 4200 lipo since the Align 4400 was now discontinued according to Frank at Align.
To keep this short I went to Align last week and got the big RUN AROUND. First they tested my battery and they determined it was bad also and then went to get me the new TP 4200 pack. Just as I was getting ready to leave a man came out from a office (Andy, Prez.) and said NO NO NO you have to return it to Hobby Town and they must return it to Horizon and then they will have to return it to us. I then left and called HT and they called ALIGN where ANDY TOLD HT THAT HE WOULD REPLACE BATTERY IF I CAME BACK and he was sorry for sending me away. Who ever is running that show there has no clue on what there doing.... BEWARE!!!
