Hi,

Well, I made a really dumb move today. I started my Evo .50 and forgot to turn on the receiver. Brilliant- Dumb A$$ as I called myself. I was able to shut it off with a pinch on the exhaust deflector but had to lift the tail to get to it as the main rotor was spinning just enough not to want to step in for the rotor button. I thought about it and now have in my truck a "trash grabber". One of those extended "arms" that has a pincher on the end and a handle that you squeeze to activate the arms. This grabs the exhaust deflector very nicely without concern for the rotor should I ever start it again like that and have it start on a high idle. I certainly never plan to.

Yes, I know of course it shouldn't happen but mistakes do, especially for beginners like me. Maybe those of you who have clubs where you fly could also use it to actually pick up trash on the field.

Christian.

I can't really understand that sentence, so I'm not to sure what you're talking about. Any time you start the heli you should be holding the head with your hand. This way if it starts up with an open throttle the head wont spin; the only thing that will happen is your clutch will get burned up. Then with your other hand you can plug the exhaust to shut it down.

The anti-chicken-dance throttle spring ensures that the engine won't start if the rx switch is off.

I didn't make it clear I guess..........

I started the heli as you should- holding the head, etc. Walked it out away from me and walked back to spool it up- but the receiver was off because I forgot to turn the switch on. At the same time the idle crept up just enough to make the main rotor spin. So I had to shut it off somehow. I didn't like it so I came up with the idea of using that device to shut it down if it ever occurred again. Normally it wouldn't have mattered if the idle hadn't crept up. Probably never happen again.
