Hello all Im new to the Raptors and have aquired a Raptor 50 from one of my friends at the club. I am going through it checking bearings and Links, Ect. anyway I have alot of extra parts that came with the heli and Im confused as to what to use on the Main Gear. The Main gear in the heli is a 85 tooth with the white tail drive gear. There is a bad spot in the main gear on the teeth and was going to change gears, I have several new replacement gears but they are 86 tooth and the extra tail drive gears I have are the red ones. I looke in the manual but didnt see anything stating gearing ratio's.

I did find it in the manual is calls for a 85t main and a 10t pinion, so what is the 86t and the 9t pinion for. Are these Raptor 30 gears of just a gear ratio option.

I looked alitle closer at the gear setup and the white gear is a Auto Rotation gear like my Trex is set up and the red Gear is a direct bolt to the main gear. So now i know what to use but dont know about the red gear at least why you would want a dirrect bolt to the main gear. Is the white tail gear an upgrade from the direct bolt red one or is the red gears for the 30 Raptor?

86 tooth is Raptor 30 main gear.
The red gear is a Raptor 30 tail drive. It does not spin the tail during an auto, as the 30 size blades really cannot afford the energy drain of the tail.

You need to get the corect main gear, as the 86 tooth will cause to a tight gear mesh and will overheat. The white auto gear for driven tail is more a suggestion

Thanks jsenicka I found a new 85t and another white gear in the box of parts that came with the heli. The teeth on the tail drive gear is OK but it is cracked at the bottom where the cross bolt bolts the gear to the main shaft. Is this crack common with the gear or should I replace it. It looks like the bolt was tightened to much and cracked the housing.

It gets cracked because of over tightening. If it were me, I would replace it. Failure could lead to loss of tail rotor drive

Yep, dont want to over torque the lower jesus bolt.

Sounds like you got a 30 that was converted to a 50.
