Anyone else ever have the tail case shift sideways on there Trex 450 V2 boom..I am using a carbon fiber boom..The boom is not cracked nor does it look worn out..During high speed pirouettes, flips, inverted backwards flight and rolls it seems, the tail case shifts sideways on the boom but surprisingly it doesn't greatly effect the way it flies much. One time I was doing some low inverted flying and noticed my vertical tail fin was almost horizontal..I may try another boom or just drill a small hole through the tail case and boom and make some type of support..Just want to see if anyone else has run into this problem...

Thanks
Justin

I had this problem too with the smooth metal tail boom. I put a drop of super glue on the boom before I locked it down. Tail case would never shift after that and could still break the glue when needed to take it apart. Of course since you are using a carbon fiber boom I wouldn't recommend superglue. What you can do is just put one layer of scotch tape on the boom to give the tail case a tight fit and it shouldn't slip. Now I am using the very cheap tail booms from helidirect. They are aluminum colored but have a textured surface so I don't have to glue them at all now.

I crash therefore I am

On all three of my metal SE tails I have used my Dremal and a parting disk to slightly widen the clamping slot, maybe only by 5 thou but just enough to allow the screw to squeeze the clamp togeher that little bit more on some booms that are very slightly undersize.

It's more of a problem with the carbon booms than the alloy ones.

Flying, crashing & having a ball.
