I read in the user manual that it can only charge max @1.35A when charging 2 3cell lipos at a time. Today, i used Elite to charge my lipos using 12V cigarette lighter adapter i bought yesterday from radio shack and noticed that it charged @ 1.9A both the lipos at the same time.

Even if the charge rate is set @ 2A, when charging two lipos at a time it used to drop it to 1.3A, when connected to AC adapter or 12V lead acid battery.

Is my Elite charger defective???

Thanks

Mine charges two 11.1v 2200 packs at 2.0amps max when it has sufficient supply available to it. Your cig. lighter plug may be your problem. Try going directly from your car battery's terminals.

trevortraffic,

It does charge TWO 11.1V lipos at 2A from cigarette lighter 12V adapter, but according to user manual it has to charge only at 1.35A when charging TWO 11.1V lipos at a time. Even with AC adapter (When plugged in to the wall ) it charges only at 1.3A max with 2 lipos charging at a time.

Thanks

That charging current limitation is valid ONLY when using the big wall wart DC supply that comes with the Elite. If you have a power supply capable of supplying the current and voltage, you can charge both sides at 2 amps with no problem.

From the Tower Hobbies tech notes on the Elite:
COMMENTS: To achieve Elite's maximum potential when using a DC input the power source must be capable of delivering at least 5A of current while maintaining 12V DC
Use a big enough supply with suitably large cables and connectors rated for higher currents.
