In a previous post we were talking about the buzz in the tail fins in idle up,well I went to our local funfly and had a few people observe the tail as I was flying.

the vertical fin was going crazy,so I took it home tonight and found that the tailshaft is bent, could have been one of the few small crashes I had.

well as it turns out I have a new tail hub,but used the only new tailshaft I had on my evo 50 a few weeks back.

not a problem ordering one I just wondered if anyone has had any luck straightening them out?

not being cheap just trying to get a few more weekend flights in,and by the time I order one and gets here it will probably be thursday.

I would love to use my backup heli but it still hasn't shown up yet.

I would not straighten the tail output shaft

The tail spindle is sometimes not straight from new
it's a bit soft and fairly easy to straighten
Put one end in a Dremel and spin it
It's really obvious when it's bent even a small amount

The hub bends real easy on those, the shaft doesn't usually get bent unless you hit real hard.
Ive seen the hub bend and not the shaft a lot of times.

RICH.L,

That Hirobo part bends easily, which probably saves a few other parts. Replace it. You can't straighten it unless you have a machine shop.

it's only an $8.00 part, just thought someone might have a tip for getting it straight while I wait for the new one to show up.

I have only had 2 small crashes with it once when the alluminum tail control rod snapped in two and one where the gyro reset due to a weak battery pack.

both times I was able to hit throttle hold before it went in,and neither wreck did any damage to the tail or tailblades.

I have had the tail buzz since I bought it used about 1 year ago so there is a chance it has been bent all along?

one quick question, did they slow the tail down on the evo 90 compared to the freya or x-spec?
we were talking about that at the funfly I was at yesterday.

well I replaced the tailshaft and the tail hub,and just took it out for a few flights.

I thought that thing was smooth before,it is so much better it's not even funny!

no more fin buzz and I had it cranked up to 1950 headspeed, man does it handle great.

and the worst part is now that I remember on one of the crashes I did break a tailblade and that probbaly bent the tailshaft.

I can't wait to fly it up in troy ohio when I go to school this week.

I already contacted one of the flying fields which is less than 3 miles from school and the hotel!
think about it,no wife,no kids and one whole week at school with 4 gallons of nitro!
