Pantera two was in trim flight mode. I had disabled the GV-1 so I could play with a few th curves. It was flying great! I getting inverted piros with a roll out down. Ouch! Mode 2 still had the th curves set to 100% across the board for the GV-1.
Did you ever wonder what happens when you slam the th to full blast and think your in Normal mode to land?
AH! You don't need to run that experiment as I just did!
When I flipped the switch. The ships motor went full bore, and off the chip. The last thing I noticed with the head speed before distruction. It was spinning real fast! Really, Really fast! I think a pitch link flew off and then the show started.
The main head flew off the ship, and the fuse found gravity.
Wires are ripped off, and I still can not find the gyro module for the 611.
I think the motor, rec, battery, voltage reg, GV-1 and the gas tank made it.
No idea how fast the head speed was.
Any ideas?
The good news is that I picked up a few things from B&B Hobbies of Spokane to get a third ship back in the air.

Sorry about the explosion. Did you have an EagleTree data aquistion on board ?. If so , like to see the rpm chart. (I,m a data collection freak, retired eng who used to design data aq stuff for Uncle Sam.)

Paul,
I wish I had the ET stuff on board.
The new ship will have all the ET goodies on board and the seagull/laptoy will be on line as well. (all the beta testing stuff are installed in the plank test beds) Once I harvest the ET stuff from the planks.
I'm a data junky as well.

WOOF!!!

Wow Bill can't say as I have ever seen one crash that hard!! To totally break the top out of a servo is almost unreal! Not to mention the pretzel you turned the tail boom into. I'm sorry it happened, but this is the way the game is played at times. I pitched mine into the dirt today as well, just in normal flight mode, no major damage though. I caught a heavy gust just as I was trying to land and freaked, the bird went side ways into the ground.

I gotta say, it was an impressive crash, though a major bummer as it was flying oh so well. Bill, we'll find the gyro box. I'll bring you that MPII sometime this week.

Bill,
I got to say that was one of the saddest looking birds that I have seen in a long time at the store today. It was a total. I still think my Hawk Pro explosion from 4 years ago still takes the cake. It exploded in the air and the frame was completly severed is three places. The canopy shot out about 50 feet from the rest of the heli at about 125' in the air. The engine stopped running about 12' off of the ground. I think that is when the rod went through the side of the engine case and the rest is history.
I hope you get the new bird built. I know that Paul and the rest of the gang will find the gyro sensor. All in all it was a cool crash. I think you will like the new 2.4 conversion. I am headed to the picnic funfly in the morning. Talk later...........

Billm, Your Pantera looks like my Tiger after last night. I put a post on last week after I had such a successful flight with my Tiger. It went very well and really built my confidence. So I was feeling pretty good when I went to the field last night. I hovered for a tank, then re-fueled and decided to do some easy rolls and loops. I was at least 100 feet in the air. My Tiger is still set up for novice flying so I knew I wouldn't be getting snap rolls or really quick flips. But being 100 feet in the air would give me plenty of time, or so I thought!! Anyway, I came out of an inverted hover and decided to bring her down to land. I must have done something wrong because she nose-dived at full speed into a flight line fence. She tried to go through the welded wire fencing and pieces flew everywhere. The tail and supports were completely bent around so the tail rotor was right next to the radio tray. Of course the tray was destroyed as was the canopy and landing struts. But it doesn't look like I destroyed any electronics other than the receiver - I sliced the antenna wire off at about 1/4 inch out of the receiver. The scariest thing was that one of the paddles and the flybar hit a piece of 3 inch PVC pipe that the welded wire was attached to. It completly sliced through the pipe and the paddle was lodged inside of the pipe completely hidden from view. I literally had to take a hacksaw and saw open the pipe to retrieve the paddle and thus untangle the Tiger from the fencing. It was an eye-opening experience to see how dangerous that thing can really be! Oh well, $250 in parts. Thought about a new Tiger or Pantera but the big expense is the muffler which I would need even with a new heli anyway. I was very pleased that the frame held up just fine. But mine looks very similar to yours today.
