I have hovered the 60 on three different occasions and it flew flawless. Yesterday when I was setting it down in the driveway, it developed a random glitch. It's a very fast glitch that isn't affecting my cyclic much, but shows up big on the throttle/pitch and tail. You can physically see the swash jump up and down. There is no glitch at idle, and the radio range checks properly. I have made NO changes to the heli from the previous flights. Today when I tried to give it a test flight at the airport, the glitch was there again. I am getting bad glitching when spooling up, then it goes away, and the it comes back at hover, but not as bad.

So what do yall think??..... Am I looking at a possibly bad receiver or crystal? All of my servo wires and extensions are still flawless, no nicks. The only servo with metal gears is on the tail (S9203).

Everything I know tells me I have something loose that's causing RF interference whenever the engine rpm's make it vibrate.

I was hoping to get some good video of this thing in actoin for everybody, but I am now grounded till this gets solved or goes away.

Please let me know if you want/need any further info to help me out.
I have already looked the heli over and can't find any moving parts that are loose, so I will have to dig in tonight and look for a loose bolt or nut somewhere.....

I can take the time to undo the receiver and battery from my hawk pro, which flies flawless, and try them out in the quick.. If it acts normal on a different receiver then I know it has to be the receiver, crystal or, battery...

I think I will pull the crystal out the hawk first and try that... Then I could try the antenna from the hawk too(I run whip antennas).
Or could an antenna even cause glitches at close range?

were they new servos ? I would start there and check and mare sure they arent frayed look at where they attach to the pc board. thats where I found mine. also check the bearing in the main and counter block. Its usually a metal to metal contact also if you did not already locktite the inner race of the bearing to the shafts that ride in them. thats a good place to start.

I would say that 8 times out of ten, when I've gotten a glitch, I have pulled the whip antenna and replaced it with a wire, and the glitching went away. This is always after they have some age on them. Are you running PPM?

Do you have the carbon frame? If so ground your boom, some of my QWW heli's or any of my others will sometimes develop a glitch like you stated because the boom isn't grounded. Even if you have the G10 frame it couldn't hurt to ground your boom.

Go simple first. The only time I had a glitching problem turned out to be a crystal that had worked it's way loose and nearly fallen out.

You would figure I would have learned from that expirience and secured the crystal better. But I didn't and ended up crashing a month later when the crystal fell out of the reciever. :P

Now I tape the darn things in.

I would change out the reciever first. I had one go in cuz a filter viborated off the board inside.

UPDATE:

Today's further testing revealed that my receiver, antenna, and crystal are NOT the cause of the glitch.

The glitch was present during testing with both receivers. It then went away at the end of my tank. I hovered half a tank today while testing the receivers, and the last hover was eventless from spool up to landing.

I have checked EVERY bolt on the heli, and nothing is loose.
I can only believe it was caused by my start shaft, battery, or possible some bearings. The only bearing possible are the swash, mast, pinion, tail, and counter gear.

I also put some more fuel in the heli and flew again just to make sure the glitch was gone, and it flew fine.

I have video to upload for everybody to inspect... Shows the swash glitch pretty good, and you should be able to hear it in the throttle.

The only thing I can see different now, is that the hex start adapter has always slowly rotated at idle after starting the heli(and sounded horribly rough). It now spins at full idle engine rpm after removing the start wand, and sounds totally smooth till I put a finger on it and make it stop spinning...

I will have a new start shaft on the way tomorrow though!

My start coupling always spun on my 46 too. Hopefully when you replace it, the glitching will go away.
I can't remember....are you running a new engine. I have also seen the rear bearing cause this type of glitching.

REPLACED:
-Start Shaft
-Upper start shaft bearing
-Clutch pinion bearing

Havn't test flown yet due to weather and work, but hope to have it back in the air tomorrow!!!

Here are pics of the overhaul.... very easy to separate the frames and get to the motor without dropping the skids and lower frame rails! Thanks for the tip Irwin!

Got my glitch fixed!!
Just test flew it!
It was the bearings on the start shaft and clutch pinion.

Yes, The stock bearings on SOME of the earlier Quicks were Chinese, and had a limited lifetime. I had the exact same issue on my Quick 46, converted to a 50, and the issue was also bearings ..... cost me about $200 to replace all of the bearings with grade 5 units .... flies PERFECTLY now!
