I have been modding this heli ever since I purchased it last year.
Most of the mods are obvious but I will list them all. Some that I have done are solely for the protection of the inner airframe or battery mounting.

From BCXPRO.COM:
Upgraded motors
shafts (longer)
blade grips
blades / lama 2
heat sink
swash plate
Spektrum 4 in one
hi power 2 cell li-po
unbreakable skids

I already had a Spektrum DX7 so I decided to add the new RX to use a digital receiver. The heli canopy has taken a beating to which I can't believe. But instead of buying a new one when it crashes I have used masking tape to beef the canopy up. The canopy takes the brunt of all impacts so you can also add some foam in the nose to protect the 4 in 1. The center shaft is subject to being bent so have a few for replacements. The outer shaft is more resilient.

If you take a look at the bottom you will see the battery tray is missing. It broke many times before I added 3M locking tape.
I can now position the battery anywhere along the length of the tray
for the type of flying I want to achieve.

I used a piece of plasticard for the locking strip. I drilled holes and used the existing screws from the skid screws to hold it in place then added a zip tie since the locking tape is so tight. It would pull off of the plasticard when removing the battery. I put the locking tape all the way to the front of the heli.

The blades are the major factor in flight performance. Stiffer is better. I do not prefer the shortened flybar because the flight of my CX is perfect for me. I have the servos at their max throw to help with the aggressive flight. The forward speed is tremendous if you put the battery to the front of the tray.

I have crashed this heli into walls, fences and dropped it from 30" high. Only to fly immediately after the crash. Blades are expensive but I have found a wholesaler and save about 40%. They are out there!!

I believe this heli is a great heli for learning orientation and to just have fun with. It is even a hit at my local flying field.
I have never seen a Lama but the CX is 1 for me just because of the durability. Last, you can see wire holding the skids from bending out from normal. It is not pretty but it works great.

Buy one, Mod it and fly it!

Mrclean518 God forbid if you get into cp machines. You'll be doing a second mortgage to afford upgrades. Thats amazing though that your having so much fun with a coaxial. Cant wait to hear from you after you get a cp machine.

No Really I am the club President!!!

Nice CX. I like your landing gear. How does it hold up to hard landings?
