I had to turn up the gain. It went from 34% (futaba) to like 64%. I was running the 3400 at 34%.

Did it fly well? When I first installed mine, I left it at the 34%, and it did not do very well. It was very loose. But once I got the gain above 50% it started to do much better.

I test flew it for a total of probably 2 minutes in a very confined area... didn't want to push the test flight though because I didn't want my heli losing control and hitting anything of any value, or worse yet, hit a person... my test flight was basically to ensure that nothing was reversed... nothing more... tweaking of my gain at all was a last second thing... I originally hadn't planned to do anything at all... to answer your question, I didn't fly long enough to determine whether it flew any better or worse..

I had a 9650 @ 35% Gain now with the 9257 i went up to 55%, i first used the little wheel that came installed on it, but it felt loose so i changed it to the medium star in put the ball link on the second hole from the top down and it works great!! it holds like a 611!!

Flew my 9257 for the first time today. Very nice! I'm using it with a 2100T gyro. Tail feels great in all maneuvers.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

yea, I bumped up my gain to 44% from 33... holds amazing now! I flew it today in 10mph wind and the tail held while I was flying into the wind... looks like I'm gonna be putting my 9650s up for sale soon... heh

I'm assuming you guys are using a step down to reduced the voltage? If so, what brand? Does Align make something?

I was contemplating this because my bro is building a miniTitan and it could be a good reason to give him my 9650!

Thanks in advance for your help!

So no "step down" is needed on a stock SEv2? I'm a bit confused, I thought the 6V would eventually fry the servo?

Thanks,
Pete

Alright i will second that statement about the servo arm, DONT USE THE SMALL WHEEL use the medium star on the scond from thetop hole, I read this post changed mine went outside and tried it with my logictech 2100t, and it is like a 611 no joke.

So with the 9257 whats the distance from the servo center to the link ball on the arm?

I still think the 9650 is better. I did try this servo, quite awhile back actually with my 401. It held great till you tried doing a simple funnel with some wind, there was not enough tourque on the servo and it would let go. Sure it is super fast no doubt, but not enough tourque imho. I guess each to their own but it surely was not adequate with my setup or style.
Sounds like people using the Logictech gyro are happy with it though, I can not comment on that as I only own a 401 for the little rex.

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

Sounds like a typical 401 to me. I have a 401/9650 and a 2100/9257 and the 2100/9257 holds better for me than the 401/9650. They're both nice though.
