You can also do a search on painting canopies.

I had one of my Lepton canopies sprayed with the rubber bumper primer, and it seems to be holding quite well. The only thing is you are adding more weight which isn't a good thing on the Lepton. I did the flame trick on one of my old Raptor canopies a long time ago with great success, but you sure have to pay attention when flaming.

i used krylon fusion and (after 7 days of cure time) it is fine. No chipping or flaking. Not the smoothest finish but it works.

The flame on the canopy is easy and if you melt the canopy it's because you were really distracted by something else. I did this with a bunch of raptor canopies and they work great. I found the trick was to go one way and then the other---kind of like the obsessive neighbor cutting his grass. You can see it shine a little. Within 24 hours I put "bulldog adhesion promoter" on it, then paint as you wish. The adhesion promoter is very light---not like a primer, so it's a great prep---well known in the auto paint circles. Google search will tell you more.
