My ESC is nearly too hot to touch, motor too after a 4 minute hover in normal mode. Batteries are just warm. I only have experience with a stock Trex450SE, which does not get this hot.

I am thinking my throttle curves are too low? I have them set per the manual, hovering at ~3/4 stick, which is 75% in, 60% out on the curve. (edit if I switch to ST-1 same stick position would be 91% throttle) Is 60% too low for the ESC and motor?

BTW according to discussions with MRC head speed should be 2700, but I assume that is 100%.

Setup in my profile, thanks for your comments.

Well now I tried it in idle1, and it runs a little cooler, but not much, still very hot.

What Switching Frequency and Timing Mode are you running on the ESC for the Hyperion motor?
