Way too late for that.
Everything from magnetron, wifi, walki talkis, babyphones and wireless video is already on 2.4GHz.

If you read the petition it's not about 2.4 GHz only for RC use, but being allowed to use 2.4 GHz for RC at all.

Man, that really sucks. Guess no DX-7 for them. Wonder how many get them anyway.
How would any EU particapent have an international RC meet. All those with DX-7 or other 2.4ghz systems would be illigal ??? Or am I reading this wrong ?..

There's a lesson here...We have to watch our own so called government like a hawk...We can use 2.4 now, but my fear is that the EPA will ban fuel power for models in the US...The land of the fee..

Save the 2.4 GHz band for RC (EU)
Sorry I read that as "reserve the band for RC".
Maybe you should change the title

Isn't the EPA going after leaf blowers, 2 stoke garden equipment and lawnmowers for pollution excesses? Requiring computer management systems or some such drivel? I know this was/is planned for motorcycles at some point in the future.

Wow just think what they would do if they saw a 90 size heli running 30%. Probably shoot it from the sky or arrest you when it lands.

Yeah, I heard that some Calif areas already ban 2 cycle leaf blowers, string trimmers and other 2 stroke powered lawn devices. You Calif guys/gals chime in and correct me if I am blowing smoke (2 cycle smoke, that is)..

I suppose farting will be an EPA issue soon. Boy will I be in trouble. God, I love more goverment intervention !!

there are no state, county or city ordinances...yet. maybe some community ordinances. but, these are most likely noise ordiances--not pollution.

there is a CARB ban on 2-stroke ATVs/motorcycles manufactured after jan 1, 1997 in california whereby they cannot be 'green-stickered', i.e. approved for on-road use.

that's all i'm aware of.

if it ain't broke, break it.

Those of you who have asked why Futaba isn't doing integrated modules/antennae for the 12 and 14 ch radios..............this proposed ban is one reason why. The US isn't the only market, and those countries who lose access to SS CAN come home again so-to-speak with module systems.

Two stroke watercraft are illegal to ride on Lake Tahoe Ca. and Nv. But I see two stroke blowers and weed wackers and mowers all over this area.
I was told by some park workers that as long as my heli was not gas, it is allowed. This was right before they fired up their two stroke weed wackers. LOL

… the answer is simple, the lobbying of the manufacturers of WLAN products is more important than the RC and especially in a small country…
I think the people who made the petition are grossly misinformed. As far as I know there is no usage restriction of the 2.4GHz band but there are rules of how it should be used (spread spectrum modulation and transmitted power level). In the UK only recently the power level limit was increased which is now sufficient for RC.

Even though several devices can use the same spectrum simultaneously by increasing the power level the background noise increases for everyone. This is why the regulatory authorities were sceptical in allowing higher power levels. But do you really think they allowed this in UK for a bunch of RC modellers in expense if everyone else? The regulatory authorities do get a lot of pressure from WiFi manufactures etc that want to increase the performance of their products. I think the people in Belgium should sit back and wait. The change will happen. Most likely it is already considered.

Oh... and by the way. By signing this petition you are just giving someone you don’t know a list of addresses where expensive helicopters are kept!

The Belgian Institute for Postal services and Telecommunication decided NOT to allow 2.4 Ghz. for RC.

In other words, within Belgium it's NOW officially FORBIDDEN or ILLEGAL to use 2.4 Ghz for RC.
