Just curious. I've seen some people that recieved the white gear (appears to be delrin?) yet in my kit I got the black one (appears to be molded plastic?)

What's the difference?

I would like to know as well. They appear to be seperate parts. One is $8 and the machined delrin one is $13.

The black gear is molded in whole, then the teeth are machined. The white gear is completely machined and made of delrin. I have flown both and see no difference in performance between the two but would say if given the choice I would use the white one.

The black didn't hold up too well in my crash. I was going to try the white one but since the black one was 1/2 the price I stuck with it. If the white delrin one proves to be more durable I'll probably switch.

The white ones are tougher.

Black are a steal !

The White are tougher but as the black are not just sloppy mold gears and actually run smooth don't wear and from what I can tell are just as quiet. not like the difference in a EVO where the moulded ones suck and are naoisy as hell. It is another great low cost part without big sacrifice that makes this a real best buy of helis in the market. If you crash hard enough to berak a black gear tooth it was probably fortunate it broke and not somthing else or multiple items in the power train.

Weak but not cheap may be better some times !

I agree. The black gears are very good, I have had good luck with both, just prefer the white. In my opinion delrin is a superior material for gearing. When you injection mold parts, you leave room for porosity in said parts. I my experience, ALL molded parts have SOME porosity as far as "hobby grade" goes. Once you stress a part that has porosity in the right spot (esp. a gear), its over with. But like I said, If I had a black gear in my hand, I would run it no sweat, heck, my backup machine has one on it.
